Rough idle, maybe some sort of grinding sound, worse when in Reverse, Tranny?
My car was running perfectly fine today, but as I was going to get gas the car started having an odd deep rattle/shake noise. Then I filled up and turn it on and it had a really odd sort of grinding shaking noise. I drove home and after a certain rpm it would go away, but then I would idle or get below a certain rpm and it would have that noise. Turned off the car, then turned it back on and it still had the rough idle/shake. When putting the car in Reverse it becomes much worse, but when put in neutral or drive it goes back down, but is still rough.
I'm thinking it's the tranny since in reverse it gets really bad, then when put in drive it goes down(this is without moving, break pushed in).
The idle itself isn't changing and stays at 500rpms or so, so I doubt its a vacuum leak. Does anyone know anything about this or have some info?

I have stock intake, but just installed a spacer. However, it's been running fine for about 250miles. Doesn't sound like a leak or anything. I might open it up to just make sure the plenum is seated correctly but all the bolts are tightened down correctly.

Well I checked everything and it was all hooked up correctly. Started the engine after it cooled down and everything seemed fine. Think maybe the automatic transmission might have overheated. Also added some extra oil since it looks like I burned some off(even though the oil psi guage was where it's supposed to be). Maybe time to change tranny fluids?

Ok problem seems to have come back. It seems like after the car is heated up(from driving on the freeway) it comes back. I only notice it when I'm stopped and a weird sound happens when I first start pressing on the gas. When I stop completely and throw it in reverse it makes even a greater rattle/grinding noise. Not sure exactly how to describe it, but this would mean something is up with the tranny correct?
Has anyone else had any problems like this with the auto tranny? I've read of the problems with the manual, but haven't seen anything on the AT.

I have a 2007 Honda Civic and I am having the exact same problem. When I first turn on the car it makes a rumbling noise and then gets worse when I put it in reverse. Once I put it in drive the car sounds fine. However, one I take my foot off the accelerator the rumbling noise comes back. It seems really serious but I have no clue what the problem is. Is it the transmission?
