Default engine noise at 2000 rpm.

At 2000rpm mine rattles, worse when accelerating gently or in neutral gently reving engine. In the "old days" we would have called it little-end noise. Help! only 7000 miles

have you bottomed out the suspension, perhaps it is an exhaust leak. pretty common with our cars i believe.

I've noticed this too and it's kind of embarassing cuz it makes my 2006 with only 4000 miles sound like an old beater. To describe the sound...I guess kind of like BB's in a can. For me it seems to be right around the 2000-3000 RPM range. I also don't really notice it until the engine is at normal operating temperature. In addition, I cannot duplicate the sound if I have the car in Neutral and rev it or if I stick it in a gear yet have the clutch pedal pressed to the floor and rev it. Only when the clutch is engaged and I'm accelerating. This could be acceleration just after shifting gears or accelerating quickly from a cruising speed.

I'm going to put my car up on ramps and check things out. It would be great if it was just a matter of tightening up some exhaust flange connections but with the symptoms I described above, I'm thinking the exhaust system might be ruled out. Unfortunately, if it's directly related to the transmission, I guess I'll have to take the car to the dealership (UGGGH!). I wonder if it could be the springs in the clutch disc?
