Salvage Title Car, Need repair~ COST?? pictures up`
hey guys, i was wondering how much the cost it would be to fix this 350 up, im planning on purchasing it, but b4 i want to know from you (350z members) if its a go.
Seems like i prolly need all body work changed, new doors, rims paintjob. instead of getting oem ones back, i was thinking about body kit, rims and paintjob. think it will cost around 5000$ or less?

Not tryin' to be an ***, but rims, paint, bodykit for 5k...absoulutely no way. It looks like every body panel needs to be replaced. the wheels/tires are gonna hit you for 2500-3grand. Walk away from this one.

you're better off getting a used 03 for around 18 or 19k and spending the 10k you saved on wheels body kit and stuff. Wheels- nice ones, can run 3000-4000 w/ nice tires and a body kit can run you 3grand said and done

Wayyy too much for what it's worth... not $5000.. more like $10,000 Go look for a slightly less broken one. Almost ALL of your sheetmetal is bent/broken.. both doors, rear quarter panels, hatch, both fenders... totally not worth it... keep looking for another car
All I had to replace on my written off 350Z was:
Hood, rad support, rad, 1 headlight, condensor, 1 sideskirt, 2 control arms, 1 rim.. plus a bunch of little plastic things that got broken/torn :P
re-Painted the fender and hood
Total cost to fix was about $2600 CDN and that was paying dirt cheap prices for parts.. (bought stuff off here and ebay)
This is what it looked like
And it looks like this now.. (yes it's dirty.. I took this pic as soon as it came out of the garage last march..)
it took a lot of time to glue the bumper back together.. but it turned out ok

Yeha, that's a parts car, don't buy it. I bought mine in late April, and have just now FINALLY got it fixed, all it lacks is paint. It didn't cost too much (~4k) but the guy fixing it was SLOOOOOW, not the car's fault, and I don't regret buying the car, only choosing this guy to fix it, though he's supposedly done a good job (I haven't seen it).
Mine needed: A few suspension pieces (~600), A complete door (it was missing entirely ~1000, used), a quarter panel (~350), some A-pillar sheet metal (~100) and some trim pieces (~200). Unfortunately, I had to buy almost everything new from Nissan, due to the body guy being hard to deal with. If I did it again, itd probabally cost at LEAST a grand less. After it's painted, I'll be in an 03 redline touring with 39k miles for like 14k, not as agood as I thought starting out, but still good.

That car is a mess. Thats at least a 12 thousand dollar job or more. You need all new body panels, car needs pull times, glass, looks like the roof might need to be pulled. Not to mention gettin everything to line up good. then the paint thats at least 3K right there and thats for a **** paint job. I have seen a ton of cars like this at my shop and everyone under estimates. Trust me insurance companies do not like paying more then they have too. If they can fix the car they do, in this case it aint worth it.

So i have a question. I was actually looking towards a salvaged car as well, and having someone fix it up for me. The thing i wanted to know is what exactly am or should I be looking out for when getting a salvaged car?
All I pretty much know is not to have it hit on the side too bad or the front. Basically I am just trying avoid problems down the road. I dont want to spend the same amount of money that i could have buying a clean title, if I am fixing things here and there on the car. I was already kinda scared with all the window motor and tire threading problems with the Z, so I didnt want to add anything else to the list.
