DIY'rs- 1st oil change complete!!
BE PREPARED!!! Nissan doesn't believe in installing oil filters so they can be removed with normal torque. You should be able to change the oil filter by loosening one corner of the plastic shielding, but I was forced to remove all but the center clip and rotate the shield out of the way so I could get a set of offset pliers on the filter. Make sure you have your replacement ready- the original will look like a crunched beer can when you're through!!!
Recommend a K&N HP-1008. You can tighten and remove this filter with a 1" socket on the end.

Very interesting! And congratulations. That's why I'm here, only a couple hundred miles to go. My salesman warned me to get a Nissan filter because they have a something... but I'm sure others have a "something" by now too.
Did you do the change at 1200 miles? My 1st service at 3750 is free. figure I'll change at 1200, let them do it again at 3750, then Mobile1 from there on.

1291 on the odo by the time I shut it down today. Figure that's a good time to freshen the oil, since the >4000 rpm fun is starting!!!!
I decided to run synthetic blend for the next 2000 miles or so before going to full synthetic.
I usually use Castrol Syntec, but I understand that AMSOil or Redline would be better.
