Default quesiton about headgasket

Is it possible to have a headgasket in perfect condition but the head still be warped ?
now if the head was warped if thats the case the pistons would have blew the head off the block already bc it doesnt sit right not 4 years later and 21k miles of driving ?

bascially friend of mine bought a car, car started over heating, took to shop
the said its prob. the head ripped the car apart checked the head gasket and that was fine, so they then checked the block and said the head it self was warped. Now mind you this is 4 year after driving the car w/ 21k miles and the car was never i mean never beat on at all. is that even possible ?

ohh this isnt on a z but just figured i'ld ask...

Yes, very likely. The overheating issue caused the head to warp like a potato chip. Have the heads decked. Use new headgaskets and new head bolts/studs.

Figure out what caused the overheating issues. Fix that as well.

thanks for the responce ...

so basically everything was good head was good up until what ever caused the car to overheat, then once the car overheated it warped the head ? the car was fine before, just out of the blue overheated i mean there is nothing he could have done to prevent it is there, regular oil changes where done every 3k miles, regular maint. on time all the time ?

could it just have been one of those things .....

could it have been something as simple as a brief clog in the cooling system that caused enough overheating to make the head warp?

To overheat there has to be a failure in the cooling system. Water pump quits working, rad cap leaks pressure, water level low, etc...
He really needs to investigate how the overheating happened and address that issue. Otherwise he will be right back to where he is now.

Never forget to also ask them to Magna Flux or Dye,, as in aluminum,, for cracks in the head. Many are VERY prone to crack and cause an overheating prob. After they repair or replace, a head can be pressure tested

Edit: And when u say "out of the blue -overheated" That could have been when the crack made it self be known.
