Question Noise in 1st gear take off, normal?...... Please help!

Hello guys,

I am a newbie to manual cars, so I am quite inexperience on all the technical problems/ behaviours on manual cars!

I have got about 1600 kms on the clock at the moment, and lately, I've finally tried to drive my car with windows open (at night).... And I've noticed that there is a strange noise... sounds like something is loss (rotating) whenever I take off, but as soon as I give it more gas and release the clutch entirely, that noise is gone.... I cannot be able to hear it with windows close at any circumstances...

Here is how I normally drive...

Give it a bit of gas and release the clutch simultaneously to the friction point and hold the clutch there for a while (1 second or so) to allow a smooth take off... the rev is normally around 1250 to 1500 rpm when I take off

The noise appears after I hold the clutch at the friction point and ends right after I release the clutch entirely... is that normal to all manual cars?

Thanks for all the input guys!

cheers,

richie

I've noticed a light, rythmic chunk-chunk-chunk sound any time the clutch is slipping during acceleration from a stop. Once the clutch is fully engaged, the noise goes away. My car has close to 10K miles, and it hasn't been a problem.
