If you are a car dealer, it is absolutely necessary, if you want to make cash for doing nothing, that is.

$130, what a crime, how could wiping down some metal cost so much $

Since we have electronically controlled throttle bodies, there is no lever on the side to hold the throttle plate open, so you have to put something there to keep it open and then just spray it down with throttle body cleaner and wipe it down. Use a toothbrush or whatever, just make sure to clean off the throttle plate and surrounding areas really well. That's all.. just make sure you use only throttle body cleaner and not carb cleaner or brake cleaner. Sometimes throttle bodies have special coatings that can easily be damaged and also if you use the wrong cleaner (ie: not throttle body cleaner) you can damage some sensors.

I actually took my TB off to clean it. I did move the throttle plate manually and I didn't have any problem at all. I did it was in Motordyne's instructions saying not to move it or you could risk having your idle messed up which could be resolved with the throttle position learning method I think.

dont really need to remove the throttle body...

it really gets dirty from the crank case blow by that gets sucked through...

those with oil catch tank's installed will reduce the gunk that builds up in the throttle chamber...

It is good to do the ECU reset after messing with the throttlebody as well. I took mine off when I installed my spacer plate and it would not idle smooth. Then I did the reset. The TB is a drive by wire type and it has a tolerence. Moving the plate manually throws the tolerence off I believe.

With the engine off, I removed the intake hose and sprayed throttle body cleaner in to the throttle body.

Looked like the dirt was trapped between the body and the flap.

I didn’t move the flap, but i sprayed in there and the dirt leaked out.
Wiped it off and attached everything back.

Also did the ecu reset, by discounting the battery, etc.

Everything seems fine so far.

Not sure if I should have moved the flap and clean inside some more.
