I've had Pennzoil 5w-30 since I got the car and followed maintence by the book. I just got my oil change last week at a new dealership and they used Shell 10w-30. I didn't notice this till I got home and read the paperwork. I feel like going back and asking them to change it to 5w-30. Not sure how I feel about Shell oil. I never used it. I've used Penzoil in my camry and its been fine so far.
nothing to really worry about. I noticed you live in MD. Thinner viscosity/weight is generally used in colder climates, but there isn't a drastic difference between 5w-30 and 10w-30. The lighter oil is used because it circulates faster when it's cold. This is better for the engine. Most engine wear & tear occurs during startup. Another factor for using thicker oil is when your engine gets older. Thicker oil will last longer in the engine, because it's thicker and won't find it's way into worn out gaskets/rings, thus getting burnt off. You don't have anything to worry about. How many miles on your car anyway?
nothing should be wrong , it might take a lil longer to start up the car. because it has to do with the thicker oil a 5 weight vs a 10 weight on start up, but it should be fine, im doing 10-30 also.
