Default Anyone with 5K + miles and NO feather??

If you have a car with 'high' mileage and do not yet have the feathering problem, please post here (include cars date of build and current mileage).

Thanks!!

I am very surprised that nobody does NOT have the problem... I guess this is proof that we will all get it at some point... I actually just went in and had my alignment done.

Car was built in 10/02 and only has 800 miles on it (I rarely get to drive it).

The rear was OK and the front was out.

MOodie your car is truly a rare kind(not feathering), would you care to help us? There is about 20 of us with the feathering problem on our cars, and we have no clue what is causing it. If I remember right the touring models come with 18's. Could you possibly go to your NIssan Dealership and get the alignment specifications on your car? NIssan warranty's the alignment the first 12k miles and first year so it is at no cost to you and a great deal of help to us. I'm sure I speak for the other 20 of us with the problem, we would greatly appreciate it. Let us know, Thanks

maybe a group of us could pitch in $5 or so each, and get him some reimbursment, we all know that sitting at the dealer for a couple hrs is NO fun. could we work something out??

Well, I guess we now have 3 people with around 5K with no feathering... what we need to find is someone with 10K and no feathering!! I believe that there were some people whose feathering didn't begin until around 7-8K, so these 5K'ers with no problems could just have problems over the next 3-4K. Does anyone have a car with REALLY high mileage?? Like 20K??

I know that many people are saying that their car's have a very pronounced bounce, which (I believe) my car does not. When I hit a bump, the car goes down, then up, then is rock steady. It is harsh, but VERY steady (no continuous bounce).

yes, we need to find someone with 10k miles and no feathering.

I noticed my tire feathering problem when it was 7000miles. I now have 11,000miles and it's VERY VERY noticeable. I have spoke with my service advisor, and they have ordered the front tires for me. It is on backorder btw.... I asked him if there is a fix for it, he said NONE so far..

I have heard that the Eibach Springs or Nismo S-Tune Shock/Springs will fix it, but not sure if it's confirmed...

I'd just like to say, that I have 58xx miles and with no visible or auditory feathering problems so far. I know I'm lucky, considering that I hear so many people with feathering problems. My vin is #7771, Silverstone Track.

Default No feathering at 5500 miles

Bad right pull fixed at 2500 miles by an alignment. At 5500 miles front tires are round and no noticable feathering , tires are getting louder at all speeds. VIN# 258, Enthusiast.

Default No 'feathering' so far; my Performace 350Z, # 8406 has over 5000 miles.

My Z just went over 5k miles this weekend. My front tires basically look normal. Although, I think they will wear more quickly on the insides. My experience has been that this is somewhat normal.
Also, I have no pull to the right as some have reported.

I'm sorry for those who are having these problems.

15,600 mi. No feathering. No alignment or toe-in problem.

Rear tires substantially worn reaching first wear marker. Fronts still in good shape. Expect another 5k on the rear and 10k on the fronts.

Default Sorry guys!!

Should have checked this forum more often!! I changed my rims, tires, and suspension at 6K miles, so I can't help you there! Did an alignment after the wheels upgrade, and I have not had any problems with pulling or feathering!! Good luck. I do know it is frustrating.

Default No Feathering on mine

I have a Touring with alittle over 5000 miles and no sign of feathering. My car does pull to the right a bit, never had it aligned though. Hope this helps.

Just rolled over 5000 mile mark. I can't see any obvious signs of wear on the inside edges of the front tires. Not real easy to look for so I can't say I have no feathering, but not enough to cause any noise or strange handling. The car runs very straight at speed - no pull to the right.

I have over 5K on my track, but have wider than stock rims and tires. Can someone please tell me what to look for and I will check to see if I have this problem? Road noise is a bit loud in my car, but I'd expect that with 245's in the front and 285's in the rear. I definitely have felt a bouce to the car at times, but thought that it might just be the stiff suspension and low profile sidewalls on rough road.

I bought my car with the aftermarket rims and tires and about 3300 miles on it. I'm not sure if the alignment was done when the new wheels were put on. The car has no noticeable pull. It was purchased new in Nov. '02, but I don't know the VIN off hand.

Just hit 5,000 miles, and no feathering with the tires. Built on Jan 03.
