Purchased mine in July, 7k miles so far and no feathering. Are you guys getting it from breaking hard? Or just normal driving?

Now have 9600 miles on my Z and am getting quite a bit of noise when driving below 30 MPH. Was not noticable much before this. I was able to feel the uneven wear on the inside edges of the tires from about 4000 miles- feels smooth when you run your hand in one direction, but can feel high spots when you run it the opposite direction..

Um,
Just a quick question for clarification based on the last post - Is the growling as the car slows to a stop part and parcel of the feathering problem?

While I have not noticed feathering or cupping on the inside edge of the front tires, The car has exhibited noticable tire noise during braking since new.....

Just curious - still love it.

The TSB that authorizes dealers to do an alignment and rotate the front tires specifically addresses excessive tire noise. Feathering is not a problem they acknowledge.

Yes! That is caused by feathering. When I test drove a used black track at my local dealer I noticed the noise and was like, "what is that?!?!" and the dealer was like, "Oh those are the awesome brembo's bitting into the rotors". I later went back to the dealership after hours and rubbed my hands along the insode of the tire and sure enough, it was feathering.

I hate dealer BS.

Why am I not surprised.

I guess I should just budget to pay a few thousand every year for new tires. At this rate I don't think the problem will ever get fixed.

I think your right that even with the correct alignment and running better tires like Michelins, if you drive 12K-15K miles a year you will be spending $1000 a year on new tires.
