Question Is it possible to have a malfunction and the MIL indicator not lighting up?

Just wondering if someone knows if there could be a problem with the car and the MIL not showing it.

Thanks

It's possible. The MIL light will come on if a sensor is out of spec. There can be problems that do not readily alter one of these sensors. Suspenesion problems for example. Most, but not all, engine problems will eventually trigger the MIL light. I'm sure there are some mechanics or technicians on here that can give you some examples of engine problems that wouldn't trigger the MIL.
