All they look at is the last set of numbers in the VIN and the build date. Your's should easily meet the criteria. If your still concerned check with the dealer. Take a copy of the TSB with you.

i called the dealer and it appears the item for the grease streaks are on back order....i can wait for that, but what is wrong with your trans? although our cars are double plated...in 3rd gear especially, the gear tends to slip without much force. how easy was it to have the dealership order a new trans? shoot, it would be better for me to get mine replaced too, before my warranty is over.

Just a couple of days short of a month I got a call yesterday to schedule the TSB for the left side window. Almost a month to get the part in. Must be everyone hit the dealerships at once. As a flight of fancy, maybe Nissan had such demand for the kits they were split.

lol
ok heres what happened to me today.
i went in to get the grease marks looked at and heres what the guy at the dealer did.

took some windex and wiped the window clean....then he's like "all gone".

instead of taking my bat and beating him over the head with it, i instead put my window down and back up showing that the grease mark had returned.

he was stumped.....(but i wasnt surprised..he seemed pretty retarted).

point is he's never heard of this grease issue before. SOOOO i went back home printed out the tsb went back to the dealer (racked up 40 miles on my poor car) and gave it to him BUT i didnt get it fixed. i dont want anyone with an IQ of -12 working on my baby. any way i told him your going to have plenty more of the same problems, so ill just let you practice on other cars before i bring mine in for the fix.

he didnt like that very much, but thats what you get for being an idiot.

Nissan built the Z to be an "enthusiast's" car...they got what they wanted...just seems the "enthusiasm" never reached some dealers...thank God my dealer understands the passion we have for this car

Sorry to hear the Windex story but it did make me laugh

Reminded me of the old commercial..."I seen one of dem transmissions once!"

What an idiot. I think I'd be finding a different service department...

That is the least intelligent response to a problem with a car I've heard of in 45 yrs of driving. Next time use the bat, it might get some neurons moving around, instead of staying inert as they are now.

yeah i know what you mean... i actually brought in the printed paper of the TSB to the dealer this morning. So he had no way of telling me it doesn't exist. Hopefully he will order the parts this time as the last service rep. never ordered it for me.

Default Window Grease / Tint

Well, I just had the fix put in successfully. But, after cleaning the windows to make sure that the streak didn't come back I noticed that there are 3 little lines in the tint where the grease was. You have to be looking for them to see them, but I am talking with the dealership to see how we can remedy the situation.

I'm probably SOL.

i just brought mine in for the window grease TSB yesterday and so far everything's great. it did take the a few weeks to get it in tho.

i brought the car in at 9AM and they had it all done by 1PM (including my first oil change). the service guy i talked too was really cool. he did let me know he'd never heard of this before, and obviously never done it, but said it was a piece of cake once he figured it out.

he also went on and on about how awesome my car was... guess they don't let the service guys near the showrooms much.

Two weeks later, the windows have been rolled down maybe 4 or 5 times since... The streaks are back but not nearly as bad as before. Great TSB (:

Taking mine in again tomorrow to redo the passenger side. It started greasing up about a month after the original fix.

Default TINT

Ok, I read through the entire posts here (Quite a lot), because I have my windows tinted. Now, I never noticed the grease problem before I got my tint done, but about a week after I got the tint the grease appeared full force. Does anyone know if this requires replacing the window itself at all?
Will my tint be damaged during the process?
And, if so, "should" Nissan cover the cost of the tint, and/or replace it?

Thanks to everybody!

There are 2 parts on the window guide that get replaced not the glass itself. Your tint will be fine as long as the dealer doesn't scratch it up when the window is removed to do the fix. If that happens then you'll have to work that out with the dealer. You might want to get that established before the work is done.

My Z shows a 04/03 date and VIN that is later than the applied VINs listed in the TSB, but it has the grease streaks.

I wonder what kind of luck I'm going to have getting it fixed.
