***Window grease TSB is out!***
Hey guys this my350z.com is a great thing. Thanks for all who posted about the grease.
I picked up my car about a month ago and had no grease problems. I did have wet streaks on the out side window after washing the car but that would eventually dry.
Well yesterday it got up to about 81 degrees in New York, wouldn't ya know it, I now have the grease problem. It's strange that it would occur after putting 2000 miles on the car. I guess being that it was so hot it softened the grease a bit.
I'll be bringing it in on my next service with the TSB in hand, My dealer is pretty cool so it shouldn't be a problem.
Anyhow thanks again Jason.

This sucks, i called 3 dealers around my area, and none of them heard anything from Nissan, and out of the three 2 of them didn't even know there was a problem with the windows. Can anyone help me out, did anyone from So. Calif. get their window grease problem fixed, and can tell me which dealer they took it to. Thanks for your help guys!

I take mine in tomorrow morning. The SM says I'm the first they will have ever done and wasn't sure how long it will take. I'm taking a thick book and waiting.
I hate being the first for anybody.

I think I'll live with mine, I'll just carry a small bottle of Windex , Hell my wife don't even touch my car let alone some 18 year old punk at the dealership..It just reminds me of that commercial..
" I'll fix it boss I never worked on a trans-mishyon before..
NO THANKS..

I took my Z into Regal Auto Plaza this morning and they implemented the TSB on my drivers door. Seems when Nissan shipped out the replacement kit it contained only the part for one door. The Service Manager was cool about it and said that he had already ordered the part for the passenger door.
He also let me back into the garage when the door was apart and showed me what they had to do. The part they install pushes the window out so that it doesn't rub against the greasy area. When they were done (about 2 hours) we looked it over, checked the window for grease, none. Also the auto up motion is still working.
The salesman was in the service area and after talking a bit he took my car back in for a detail. Real nice working with them.
Nice morning all around.

Update: After the TSB repair, my window streaking is gone for the most part. After raising and lowering the window over several weeks, a very light grease streak has returned. It's a 90% improvement but not entirely resolved. This is obviously a design defect. Overall, it's worth it to get the TSB repair, but don't expect that there will be no signs of the grease streak ever again.
Had my new trans and window prob fixed on Wed... It seems that they can install the trans right but my drivers window was put back wrong... It doesn't drop down the 1/4" when you open it and every time you hit a bump with the window down, it sounds like their is nothing holding the glass in... I will be complaining with NNA and my dealer... Its just a matter of time till Nissan replaces this lemon....

Do I have to pay for the Labor to fix this problem?
or is it all covered by warranty?
can anyone answer this?
and what is TSB number? what does it stand for?
where should I get this number?
thanks

You don't have to pay for $.01 of it. It is completly covered. And if they screw it up like mine, thats covered too. The TSB # should be at the beginning of this thread but just tell your dealer to look it up and they should find it. I stopped by my dealer yesterday and showed the mechanic who worked on my car that the drivers window is loose and doesn't drop down and he said he is to blame.. This was the first car he did and the drivers window was the first side.... He said it just needs to be adjusted.. Their is also still a little grease after a week which he said he would look at too. I'm not bringing it back until I see if I'm getting a new car first....
thanks for the detailed info on the window grease fix...it's taken my dealer (2) weeks to agree that a tsb has been issued, but aided with your info i've been able to educate them...it felt good too.
Did anyone in the Los Angeleas, CA area get their window grease problem taken care of? I couldn't find a dealer near me that will do it, although AudioPat mention Simi Valley, but thats too far for me. If you can guys can tell me any dealers around LA area that would take care of this problem, I will greatly appreciate it.
Thanks Guys!

I only got my driver side window repaired because they didn't ship both kits when they ordered them.
I called NNA after I had it done and NNA told me that the installer needs to move the glass down further so that the window will do it's little dance and make sure it clears the frame.
I took my car back over to the service center and that guy said the stopper is what is preventing it from moving down like before and that it should be fine it shouldn't hit the frame, and it makes a better seal now
He said the stopper pushes the glass out away from the roller.
He said that the glass doesn't come out and there is no way to move it down lower.
He was trying to prove his point by showing me a car that was built 3/3 and it moved down further. It definitely moves down further than mine does with the fix. Does anyone know if cars built 3/3 would have the grease problem? So I don't know what to do now.
So I guess I'll just have to wait for a TSB for this TSB? Kind of like hot fixes for windows service packs?
