I am hearing a whining sound coming from the front left of the motor if you are standing in front of the car. It sounds to me like a water pump but my car only has 50k on it. I had both of the pulley's replaced and new belts installed. I am wondering if anyone else has had problems with the water pump or if there is anything else in that area that could be making the noise.

First of all ---always refer to the left as being the drivers side and visa versa, its standardized. Waterpumps seldomly make whining sounds, they just start to leak and when they get to the point of making a noise they are bout ready to explode. The waterpump is in the center. Whats on the right side is the Alt and the PS pump, both can make a whining noise. Take a piece of vacuum hose thats bout 3 ft long and use it as a stethascope to pin point it

 

I'll take a picture when I get home from work and show you where the noise is coming from. I used a screwdriver to pinpoint where the noise is coming from so I can circle it or something in the pic. I don't think its the Alt but the PS pump is a thought. I am wondering if there is a tensioner inside this housing where the noise is coming from.

I have a whining sound coming from the driver side of the hood as well. I haven't pinpointed it, just cruising the forums for a starting point.

Another few threads have talked about a similar sound but have mentioned everything from belts to trannys (not the human type...). I've replaced my belts about 1K ago as it was needed anyway, the problem persists.
