Default Unsteady Idle

does anyone's Z have a really unsteady idle.

i notice that when my car is in normal idle (after it has warmed up a little) my idle fluctuates anywhere between 850 and 1000 while just sitting with clutch engaged and brakes applied. it goes up and down randomly. sort of annoying cuz i can feel it in my clutch foot. is this anything i need to be worried about.

i believe it might have something to do with the aftermarket ECU reflash my car has. i dont really know a whole lot about it. i know it used to be vortech supercharged, and somehow the box for the supercharger was left spliced into my factory ECU. I continue to find mods on my car that i had no idea were done, and since ive never taked the engine apart, its entirely possibly that there are internals i dont know about.

any ideas? i was thinking aftermarket cams...

if your car is idling at 850-1000 then something is done to it. My car sits at 500-750max never will it idle above 750 unless the car is not fully warmed up. I do have a shaky idle which i believe most all Z's have, but the idle you described seems high.

its because the ecu was flashed and its notable that u are reaching idle of 1k b/c vortech sometimes need to raise your idle for a smoother idle witch is raised to typically 800-1000 with a ECU flash. TRY this... turn on ur A/C if your idle smooths out then your ECU/SS box might still be tuned for the vortech setup. your timings is not stock. get a tune

They don't even idle good stock, maybe you should pull your head out of the sand.

+1 that from the first day, the idle was not steady...always annoyed me - I always thought that the engineers tried to make the car idle like it had hot cams - kinda like the older car that had build engines.

more like someone screwed up and messed up the tuning. If I had known my car would idle like this, i would not have gotten it
