Question Drove hard, different feel

My friend and his bro drove my z. It had 2000 miles at the time. We went out, hit 120 a couple times, did about 3 pavement donuts, revved it up alot. Some good came of it and some bad. First, my one friend liked to keep it at like 3000 rpms, even when he was just cruisin. We'd take off, and every time we slowed down, he'd just leave in in a lower gear and it would hang around 3k rpms. He drove it like that for about 10 mins. He was really hard on the clutch too. WHen he would shift when going fast I thik he let the clutch out too early, because I head a bang. My other friend feathered the clutch much better...really kept the rpms low when just cruisin'.

Like I said, some good and some bad came of it. The good part is, it's actually easier to shift. The shifter goes into the gates easier, and it's easier to transition from gear to gear (Is it because we drove it hard, and sort of broke it in?) Bad part is it sounds a little raspy under the front of the car, and the tranny sounds more windy, and it feels like I have less throttle response...

Is this possible from these events? Or am I crazy?
