So my service engine light came on....
i figured this might be helpfull for a few people out there. apparantly i'm not the only one this has happened too at my dealership. a few days ago my service engine soon light came on. it came on solid, i remembered reading in the manual that it had something to do with the emissions system. the car was still running fine just as strong as it had before hand.
i took it into the dealership yesterday and told them the light was on. they took it into the back and ran the codes to see what the problem was. the code was P0456 for evaporations. apparantly there are certain parameters for tolerances for evaporations. they were grouped too tightly for the gas we get on the east coast (apparantly it doesn't burn as clean as west coast gas). they reflashed the ECU per bulletin NTB02-115a with the new parameters and the light went away. the car runs fine, no differences between now and when the light was on. figured i'd post this so that if someone else has it happens that they don't freak out like i did. FYI the light came on at 2200 miles.

I also got this service engine soon light this week. I went to Autozone and they read "P0456" also. Problem is that my car isn't under warranty anymore. I doubt dealer will reflash ECU for free. What do i need to do to fix this myself or should i at least take it to a mechanic? Is there any part that needs to be actually replaced or is it just a flash of ECU? Thanks.
