Default Are you going to get your window grease problem fixed?

Now that the fix is out, are you going to let your service department take care of your window grease problem?

I'm either going to wait or not do it at all. I let them screw up on a few other people first.

Thumbs up Yep - Dealer had to order part...

Took my car in for the 3,750 service and showed them the TSB. They agreed and had to order the part. They said they'll call me when the kit comes in.

So, we'll have to wait and see....

They take apart the door and I prefer my current non-rattling door

So I will wipe off the grease until it no longer appears

Regards,
Kevin

I agree. I"m planning on keeping the Z for a LONG time anyway - the grease is going to run out eventually....

I'd rather have the peace of mind knowing that nobody took apart my doors.

I was hesitant to let anyone disassemble my doors, but the dealer had the parts in stock, so I let them do it. I had speaker buzzing in the drivers' door panel, so I thought they might be able to fix that, too, while they have the door panel off. Amazingly, they got rid of most of the buzzing, and the windows work fine. I'm happy I got it done.

Default Have too, door/window not closing

I have to get window TSB installed, since my window would not stay up when closing driver side door!

This started Saturday. Could not get the window to stay up. From inside I would raise window, then open door. Window would do quarter inch jig, down by quarter inch. Then close door. Window would move up ....down to half way position!

Had mine done a couple weeks ago. Results on the window are fine.

Unfortunately, the technician who was doing the work sat on my doorsill with something hard and sharp in his back pocket. Ended up having to sand down, fill, and repaint the plastic trim panel below the driver's side door Dealer picked up the tab, but it still frustrated me. <Rant Over>

Had mine done about two weeks ago. When I picked my car up the door closed with a thunk in stead of a nice thud and they forgot to activate the locking mechanism on my door so I couldn't lock it. They fixed both problems and it seems ok now.

Took my car in on Friday to have mine done. My dealer mistakenly thought that one part number would cover both the driver and passenger side but it doesn't so I ended having only my driver side door done.

Unfortunately, there is still a little bit of grease that shows. It's nowhere near as bad as before but I was hoping to not see anything. I really haven't been able to open and close the window much because the weather's been crappy so I'm hoping that the little bit I see now will go away with time. If not, I have to take it back in to do the passenger side so I will bring it to their attention at that point.

I will say that the window is working fine and there are no rattles in my door as some others have said they experienced.

I talked to my service manager about it yesterday, and he said that they're not recommending it be done, and he said it would most likely damaged my window tint... oh well.

The only thing I hate it that the grease doesn't come off that easily... i usually have to go over it 3-4 times. Maybe it's sticking to my tint???

I got mine done a week or so ago and everything seems to be fine. Most importantly no harm done to the car. Not even a fingerprint of a spec of dirt on the carpet.

My dealer jokingly commented "I wonder what the fix will be when this fix sucks all the grease out of the mechanism and the windows start to bind!" Hmmmm. I wonder what we'll all be doing a year from now!

Had had some similar problems. I took del. on 9/18.
I took my car in because, my driver's side window would not stay up. They fixed the problem and replaced the pad that causes the grease streak. But by them doing this, I was unable to lock my driver's side door, and the alarm would not activiate. Took it back to the dealer, they repaired, all the problems they caused. Now i hear rattling in my passagner side door.
My advice, if you can put up with the grease streak on the window, do not let the dealer take apart your door. I am going to take mine back, again because of the door rattling. Plus the fix that nissan put out, didn't solve the problem completely. Not as much grease, on the windows but it is still there.
I will not let anyone touch my car again, unless it is a serious problem. Seems as though they do more damage than anything. Remember these cars are still fairly new, so most of the mechanics, have yet to work on one, besides oil changes, and lubing the chasis.

just my 2 cents

Had my windows fixed at the same time as my 3700mile oil change. Took about 2 hours. Everything works great, no more grease. Done at Irvine Nissan.

that's what I thought. I was wrong. They put the driver side window about 8mm to far foward. They fixed it today. I'm not sure if it caused any permenant damage smashing against the upper groove...
