6th gear syncro broke?
hey guys whats up, i have an 04 track model with almost 50k miles on it. bought it with about 39k miles. ive now had it for 6 months and ive already had a new transmission put in (supposibly).
and about 2 weeks ago ive had another problem. (its been about a month and a half with the new transmission).
and when i normally drive ill go 1st-3rd, then 6th just for the correct speed limit.
and now each time i shift into 6th, it grinds. *unless i shift slowly*
i mean, either way it has to go in for another trans. nothing i can really do by person. but this car has brought me nothing but problems really.
each time i bring it to service and bring it home, the car has new problems each time. its crazy, and thank god this is all covered by warranty. but i only have 10k miles left on that. and idk if 10k will be enough for a trans. (sarcasm)

skipping gears is not good for the synchros, because they have to slowdown/speedup the gears a few times quicker than what they normally would have if you didnt skip gears. As result, more wear and tear on the synchros. It's like skipping steps while going up a latter/stairs; your legs have to work harder. Thats the simple explanation. so, dont skip gears and maybe it might not grind if your synchros isnt too wornout

sorry to hear that. i personally would never buy a used sports car myself especially a track model. i bought my 6sp. 03 back in early 03 off the dealer lot and i've never experienced a single tranny issue.

alright guys thanks.
the thing is, when i bought the car is like, hey ill have a drivetrain/engine warranty for 20k miles so i wouldnt need to worry.
i supposibly got the *newer model* transmission and they updated my whole car with the fuel recall **** and all.
but i didnt expect this to happen with the tranny so quickly. cuz my older one was fine.
my old one broke due to my fault.
and it does make sense as far as the syncros laggin a bit cuz i do shift pretty fast. but smooth so i didnt get what would happen.
aright thanks alot guys.
