Question New Owner... Gas Smell

I just recently bought my 1st Z at the end of May(07 Enthusiast Coupe Carbon Silver) and this is my first post. I now have 1500 miles on the car. I have been driving it just for fun and a few times a week til my daily driver (98 Honda Civic) got a flat last week. I haven't got time yet to get a new tire so I have had to drive my Z to and from work. The issue here is I have noticed that when I get home me and my clothes smell like Gas or Exhaust (Like a petrolium smell). I was wondering if anyone else with an 07 has noticed this. I did crank up the air on it this morning and noticed the smell comming from the air vents. Any feedback would be great. Thanks.

Welcome. There should not be a odor of fuel in any vehicle. Take it in and have it checked .

as mentioned above there should be NO gas smells or fumes coming from your car. If it's coming through the A/C vents then that is a serious issue. (carbon monoxide + you = crash)

You shouldn't be driving that car if you smell gas like that. Definitely get it checked man before something happens to you.....and the Z too =]

welcome to the forum. About the gas smell, don't worry about, every Z generates that smell -- it's designed to differentiate Z owners from the rest of the inferior humankind wtf get it check out man! lol, bring it to the dealer asap, gl.

i had a similar issue in my 04 Z.

it turned out that the fuel line connection under my hood had become loose and was spurting gas all over the place.

Option 1- could have taken it to the stealership. I would have been without my car for a few days while they figured it out, and they would have charged me a couple hundred bucks to fix it.

Option 2- Go to autozone and buy a pack of hose clamps for 49 cents. Install in parking lot.

I have been driving the car ever since. No more gas problem.

Pop your hood and look around. if you don't see anything out of the ordinary, then i would go to the dealership. Make sure your engine is running when you are looking around.

Just a tip ->I wouldn't smoke inside the car if I were you.

But definately take it back to the dealer.

Was it out of warranty? How many miles were on it?
