Default My seat is stuck in "gangsta lean position" what do I do?

I posted this in the correct forum & didnt get any feedback....

After my whole "auto car wash disaster thread" was posted, I noticed that my eletric switch to lean the seat forward isnt working, then to check if the lean back was also messed up, I ended up leaning the seat back all the way not able to bring it back forward at all, so now when I'm driving, I'm laying down in my seat lookin' gangster ... lol at first it wasnt much of a problem but NOW it's getting on my nerves, specialy since the seat is against one of the compartments & when my bass booms, it rattles something naaasty, I have to turn my bass all the way down so I dont get pissed off

I'm thinking(hoping) it's just a fuse I need to replace & not a motor, & I know theres so many damn fuses I have no idea where the "seat fuse" is, If there even IS one.

I'm gonna try to get this done soon so can someone help me out?

I looked through my manual & didnt see anything about seat fuses, or which fuse goes where.

Can someone please help? I'm tired of laying down driving....

You might as well just go ahead and Pop off some caps....or do a drive by ! When in Harlem or the Hood....its better to jack'em, than be jack'd.

Sorry though, couldn't help with the gansta remarks,I don't have a clue on the seat. Did you call the stealership on advise ?

well I'm not sure on your cars details. but...

go to www.350z - tech.com (remove the spaces before and after the hyphen)
you can find a copy of the service manual for your car. in the service manual it will tell you EXACTLY where the fuse is, as well as directions for replacing the motor.

Check all your fuses. I could not find a reference in the owner's or shop manual to a specific fuse.

You also might try spraying some electrical contact cleaner into the switch and "working it".

The shop manual says that the wiring to the seat controls goes through the "body control module". This is an electronic box that is kind of a mystery to me. I had to have it replaced by the dealer....because my windows would not go up or down.

Good luck.

Becoming a gangsta is one option to fix the problem. You will no longer need to un-gangsta your seat!

Look at it this way, it's much easier for you to get some road head now.
Peace!

So... no one has had this happen to them before? Come on guys, someone here has to know what to do besides lubing the switch up or calling the dealership, all they'll do is tell me come in to give them $$$$ :/

hmm...i have the same problem. did u try to hold the switch (so u can bring it back up). for some reason it starts working again after holding it for exactly 60seconds. its really weird, but try that. its not a fuse though, im pretty sure it has to do with the switch. i have not fixed it yet...i simply make sure i dont mess with it for now (untill i got some $$$). i also havent really looked into how to fix it beyond that.

My seat was actually stuck like that when I first bought it. I worked the switch a little and it just kinda worked. It works well now. I only have this problem every now and then.

I had the same proble.

And I have a fix.....

What I did was sprayed some electrical contact cleaner into the switch. The way the switch design is, it will collects every last piece of dust and crumbs. I sprayed the cleaner on the switch, worked the switch back and forth a few times and it was just like new.

Let me know if it works. Worked great for me. I remember when my switch went on the fritz and I was a gangster for a few days. Sprayed the switch and now I am back to my normal pimp self.

Hmmm My side switch doesnt seem to have any dirt or dust in it, and it doesnt work... passenger is loaded w/ crap from my g/f riding & it works fine lol ... I guess I'll try holding the switch longer but it seems like that would burn up the motor, or something.
Kinda not to bad driving gangsta now... I have to scoot the seat up real far so the bass wont rattle, making my legs kinda confined, but as stupid as this sounds, seems like I can shift quicker & use the peddles better this way... lol but it IS very awkward feelin'

Is the power seat switch easy to pop off? If so remove it and look up the Wiring diagram for it. Check for your reference voltage if its there your wiring is fine and now all you have to do is just bypass the switch and apply power to the right wire and if it moves your switch is bad.....
