Also, It would be nice to hear this knock, since these engines all have valve train noise anyway. What you're hearing may be somewhat normal, and will get louder as your oil warms up.
I am having a similar issue with my 06 350z wth 31k miles. Here is a video of the knocking noise that I am experiencing. Only happens at idle once engine is warmed up... it's quite at start up and the knock seems to go away while reving up the engine or while driving.

This /\ turned out to be a timing chain issue... (Just FYI for future posts)

I'm having this same issue on my Altima. Replaced the dampers, but noise is still there. Very embarrassing to drive.

can anyone confirm if it is valvetrain/timing chain noise or the fuel damper?

I just bought mine 3k miles ago, it probably needs an oil change. This is the second morning in a row i heard a noise that sounded like when you first start your car up after an oil change. Kind of a tapping noise where the engine isnt getting enough oil.

However once its warmed up it seems fine. I tried to check the oil level and the oil was all over the dipstick even after i wiped it down a few times. I didnt want to see metal specs in the oil but there was definitely something there maybe small dirt deposits. It could be old oil or a cam issue or a loose timing chain but im not sure.

Hi All,

Experiencing similar issues with my 2003 Nissan Maxima 6-Speed, where it makes a knocking/ticking noise at idle and goes away when driving. It can only really be heard inside the car, with it sometimes being very loud, sometimes very faint.

The knocks are distinctly audible at lowest (idle) rpm with a few knocks per second, with revving to higher rpm knocks no longer being discernible.

My car is 100% stock with 98,000kms. I've read that it could be fuel dampers or fuel pressure regulator, but haven't been able to find a definitive solution.

I've posted a youtube link of my car with the noise (listening with headphones will help identify the noise). Please note that the AC/Fan is turned off while recording.

Has anyone been able to identify a solution to this problem?

Thank you,
