Default O2 Sensors destroyed

Recently my service engine light came on so I took it to my dealership to have it checked. They ran the codes and turned out to be a O2 code. They lifted the car and checked underneath sure enough there were 3 of 4 sensors torn like something was chewing at them or cut them. I have a warranty on the car still figuring that they should get replaced with no charge the mechanic says since this a fire hazard issue the warranty does not cover it. He says I should file a claim with my insurance company to have it looked at by them. Also the mechanic roughly quoted me the sensors will be $200 a piece. Now is this something I should have the insurance take care or or can I buy these parts cheaper and replace myself. Any help thanks.

Probably some type of rodent eating the wires in your car.

Yes me and the mechanic believe that may be the cause. Are there any solutions so that this doesn't cost me a lot to replace or a better rout to do this?

as long as you are still covered under warranty i dont see why they wouldnt cover it. i can see bent wheels or mods but...they could warranty it if they cared bout your patronage.i see it everyday.

check online for the best price on those 02 sensors. DIY and cut the cost in half.

How many wires do the sensors have? I found a website that sells the sensors really cheap but with out the connectors. Also are all the sensors the same (ex. lower cat left, right. manifold left, right)? Ill try to get pictures if I get a chance. Basically why im asking is the sensors are a universal will they work with which ever one I replace

One of our guys picked up an 02 sensor at Checkers/shucks/krager for like $100. We had to rewire it, but it came with everything we needed.

I don't understand why it should be covered. If you put a brick through your windshied, will the warranty cover it?

I do get your point but its not like I went out there on purpose and cut my wires. I did get ahold of one of someone with whom I have the warranty and it is covered, just gotta schedule a time to get a claim going. But depending on how much this is going to cost cause I think there is a deductible I might just end up doing it my self for way less.

I was referring to the manufacturer warranty. I think you are mentioning insurance, not warranty. Full insurance should cover it since it will fall under vandalism, but Nissan never will, since the wires aren't guaranteed to be blade-proof at all; only against manufacturing defects.

No actually Im referring to my aftermarket warrenty through GE. Ive already talked with my insurance company say its better to have the warranty cover it first then if not setup a claim with them. Either or I think its gonna cost me around $500 with which ever one takes care of it, thats why I think im just gonna do it my self half the cost and keep it off my insurance no reason to jack up my rate over three wires.
