Default A Code I Cannot Find

My car now will not accelerate properly. Once it gets to about 2500 it "bogs out" Even if and when it shifts (Auto) can't hit higher RPMs. This is all to planned I think. I am about to move so I am saving as much as I can then this happens at a little less then 40,000 miles. The code auto-zone gave me was P1281. Can anyone help me out here. I really can't go to the dealership. Hell they wanted 90 dollars for a diagnostics!

It's been reset when they took the code. I was afraid to get on it though, I'll go drive down the road real quick.

Are all the lights on the dash still lit up?

that is not a known code from what i can see. Sounds like your car is in limp mode though. Try resetting the ECU, and see if the problem persist. (unplug batter for an hour or so)

Ok, like I said before I am moving. I am driving from FL to KY and back then to GA. Is there a quicker way to reset the ECU just in case, because I don't have the ECU checker? All the lights on dash did not light up, just check engine until the ECU was reset.

Well if all the lights on the dash aren't on you aren't in limp mode which means you should be able to go over 2500 rpm's. You can buy one of the OBD2 code checkers @ autozone. Make sure you get one that will let you reset the ecu.

It sounds as if your flux capacitator is going bad. You may want to invest in a new one, if not, the world could end with your simple mistake.

Do you have adjustable cam gears on the car? I had some slip on my car and had the same issue.

Do these cars have a limp mode, sounds like that could be the case aswell.
