Question Noise when closing trunk lid.

I get a clicking / clunking sound when the lid is about 2/3 of the way down, just on one side. Haven't been able to isolate it yet. Is there an adjustment on the lid strut maybe?

I've got a little squeak from the left side on closing the trunk. Maybe one of the struts is in need of oil?

I've got the exact same problem. It doesn't happen every time. I notice it and try to make it occur again to try and pin point it and it doesn't do it. It definitely is a click/clunk noise 2/3 of the way down...

Just a thought. Do you guys have factory spoilers? I know that the struts are different on cars with spoilers. Mine does this. I have a Canadian Performance and got the factory spoiler installed by the dealer which included replacing the struts with different ones that came with the spoiler. Unfortunately, I had this done at delivery, so I dont know if it was doing this with the first, non-spoiler" struts.

I have the same problem, but it doesn't happen all the time! Doesn't bother me much as I don't open the trunk every day!!

Like to know why though!!

Good to know I'm not the only one. Yes, I do have a factory spoiler. Interesting that the cars with spoilers have different struts. It's no big problem, but I thought maybe someone had discovered a simple fix earlier.

I don't have a spoiler, but I started getting this a couple of weeks ago. Never had it before. It is kind of just a "thunk" noise as I'm closing it.

Here's an idea. Since as far as I understand it, the spoilers are installed at the port by whomever. One thing that it states in the spoiler instructions is to be careful *not* to let any of the spoiler bolts fall into the inside of the hatch which installing it. Could it be a bolt that someone dropped into the hatch?

Edit:

I just reread MannishBoy's post and since he doesn't have the spoiler is it possible that one of the pivot points for the lifts has an uneven wear spot and from time to time the pivot ball moves between wear spots?

Default same noise

I have the same clunking noise on a non-spoiler July 2002 build date. My noise is coming from the left strut. If it does not cause a problem with closing the trunk lid, I can live with it.
