battery died, could it be improper wiring?
i havent had a problem with my 03 z until today. just two weeks ago i put in component speakers, an alpine headunit, and mtx amp for the components. it has been fine for the two weeks, no problems.
just today i get back to my car after it sat for about 7 hours and it cranked and cranked. i held it for about 6 seconds, 3 times, and the cranks got weaker and weaker until it was just clicking. i knew i needed a jump so i got one, and it started immediately.
now, the car is in the garage and i need to know how to test for any power consumption, because it might be this amp or something i did wrong in wiring.
the amp has this self powering feature but thats only in a certain mode, where whenever it detects sound coming in the rca the amp will auto turn on. the amp power lights are NOT on when the car is off though.
so what do you think the problem is? is the battery just old? am i draining the battery somehow? thank you in advance!

Just check that you connected everything correctly and there are no shorts or cuts in any of the wiring.
You can also hit up a local auto parts place and have them test your battery.

+1 on that... Not sure if the stock junk battery will hold strong for you...Plus you said 2003....Thats 4-5 years old if its the stock battery that came in it..
Probably need to go with a yellow top or something with some more cranking powah!!
Sounds coincidental to me. My stocker battery on my 03 went out a few months back also.
1st, get a volt meter and check output of alternator. If it's good, get a new battery.

Like clock work --'03 OEM batts started going out 9 months or so ago and now the '04s are going out. Always start from Point A-----Time for a new Batt, if by chance thats not the prob, I guarantee it will be in short order
Yep....seems theses batteries are all dieing about the same time...I have an 03 and mine started to go out a few months back.
Got a Duralast Gold from Autozone. Thoses things have great cranking power.
