Default Window Motor/Regulator Replacement Help

My passenger-side window is failing. It will roll down but barely roll up. I took it to the dealer and they charged me $95 for inspecting it. They said that the window motor has burned out because of the window regulator. I have to get both replaced. They wanted to charge me about $450 to replace both units & install it.

I looked at PerformanceNissan and they had a new motor for about $185 and a new regulator for $60.

How difficult would it be to install? I do have the Service Manual for my Z but I've never really took apart my door (but seen it taken apart). My friend has a Z and the most he's done to it was replace the door panel speakers, so I can at least refer to him on how to take apart the door.

I just had the same thing happen to my Z, in addition to the calibration on the driver's side being off all of a sudden as well. (Rolls all the way up then senses something is wrong and rolls halfway back down again.)

Z Wiki on the 350Z - Tech site will tell you how to take the door off with illustrations.

After you get the panel off there is an aluminum portion of the inside part of the door you will have to remove to replace those parts. Other than that it doesn't seem to be too difficult. I will be putting mine in tomorrow or so so I can update if anything changes.

Holy crap. That is exactly what I'm looking for (how-to with illustrations.) I didn't even know that existing.

Thanks a ton.

My driver side window is doing this. I'm getting mine replaced under extended warranty, but still have to pay a $100 deductible I forsee this happening to the passenger window, so I thought I would chime in on this thread for the info. as well.
