Default Got a letter from Nissan...

They're asking me if I want to buy their extended warranty plan.

1. Coverage up to 7 years/ 100k mi.
2. Car rental allowance.
3. 24/7 roadside assist.
4. Towing
5. Tire protection.
6. Trip interruption coverage (?)
7. Additional component coverage (?)
8. Coverage for electronic items on 'luxury' or 'high-tech' models (?)
9. Genuine Nissan Parts.

Says price is reduced until Oct 15, anybody ever buy this? Worth it or no? I have a few mods on my car btw... I know they don't cover that. How much is it? I would call but I don't want them to try to sell it to me... I'd rather hear it from someone who's had experience with it.

Edit: Didn't know where to post this... mods plz move it to appropriate forum if this isn't correct.

Most people don't bother with the extended warranty. Generally, the Z is a reliable car and many people have had problems getting Nissan to honor certain things that aren't spelled out perfectly in their extended warranty.

In the end, it's all whether or not the money is worth your peace of mind. That's all it's really good for. In reality, you'll most likely pay less for repairs over that same period... it's not like they are doing you a favor by selling you this. Service plans make loads of money.

That sums it up pretty well. I have had an extended warranty once, and when they didn't cover my a/c when it broke, I cancelled it and got my pro-rated money back. Bottom line, I wouldn't bother with it.

I'd tend to agree with the the other 2. Has your Z been fairly (hope not jinxing it) trouble free thus far? How long do you intend on keeping your Z?

The reason they do these "add on" services is because they're generally a money making scheme.

I see... I have yet to use my warranty on anything *knock on wood*

It's probably a good selling point if I decide to sell the car. Depends on how much it is though... I'm not about to shell out a few more thousand dollars just because... thanks for the info guys.

You will not recoup the money on the car sale, imo. It is usually over a thousand dollars for an extended warranty of any decent amount of time/coverage.
