Since dealers have become very competitive on oil change prices (about $20) and time (about 30 minutes), I can't see a reason not to go to the dealer. Since I'll be taking it there for any warranty work also, I think it's a great way to have a complete service history of the vehicle all from one place.

Too much of a pain in the a$$ to do it yourself, and the dealership does not respect the 350z, so I take it somewhere else.

Do it yourself, I have access to a lift for $4.00 an hour. If you do use anything other than a nissan OEM filter make sure it has in internal check valve(stated in the service manual to void warranty) OH yeah and Mobil1 SS.

I buy Mobile 1 synthetic and mobil 1 oil filter and just have the dealer do it. they only charge $10 and they take good care of my Z so it's a no brainer for me.

I alternate.

Bring the car to the dealer every 7500 miles and do the oil changes in between.

Plus one extra oil change per track event....

Just wondering if synthetics are better. Owner manual says to use mineral base. Is it worth the extra money? Also my Nissan dealer uses some off the wall brand like 'kendal' or something like that. Is there a Nissan oil?

I take mine to the dealer and give them mobil 1 synthetic to use. Only problem is, how do I know for sure that they use the oil I give them? (Service area is off limits to customers)
For you guys that use synthetics, do you actually see the oil going into your car?

I'm thinking about taking it in to the dealer for the first one. You guys know what oil they'll use and filter as well? I'm assuming the same stuff that's already in/on the car right now.
I just dont want to take it in and have them lose some screws or mess up that cover underneath the car...

They will use the standard Nissan oil filter for the Z, with a new crunch washer and whatever oil you want them to put in it.

Don't dealerships give you **** about warranty service if you don't have service records from maintaining the car regularly? If you always change the oil yourself, there is no record (unless you keep receipts) so what happens?

I know a lot of people change their own oil, so I'm just curious...
