Default Oil Change Poll

Was just wondering whether you do it yourself, bring it to the dealer, or bring it to a professional thats not a dealer

I don't really have a local dealer, so that option is out for me.

Luckily there is a shop just down the street from my office that specializes in Zs

Cool Oil change

Walmart, $35.00 for Moble 1 and filter, tried other places. Walmart seems to do as good or better job. For the plrice can't do better.

My question is, if you do it yourself, and later you have problems with the car while it's under warranty, what is needed to prove you didn't neglect the car and you actually changed the oil regularly?

To me taking the car to the dealer is worth it for the first 3 years so there can't be any question about whether the warranty was voided.

Am I wrong?

I don't know about Walmart. I took my old car there to put on tires, and they totally forgot to torque 3 WHOLE WHEELS! So 30 miles later, I hear ka-thunk, ka-thunk, pull into a parking lot, and notice a couple of my wheels are about to fall off. (That was the Westminster, CA one.)

I take mine to the local Grease Monkey. They'll put Mobil-1 in it (unlike Jiffy Lube). And they always drool over it in proper respect every time I show up. :-)

I use to take my F150 to the local quicky lube and just keep the receipts (usually ran about $35.00). With the Z, I go to the dealer. I can make an appointment, be outta there in 30 minutes and it's only about $20.00. It's not even worth the effort to do it myself at that price.

True that! My hood was dented at a dealership (one I no longer go to) and now take to the place where I bought the car. The person who takes care of my car is awesome! He babies the car just as much as I do!

I buy my Mobil 1 and filter and take to my brother who is an automotive tech at Pearson Ford here in San Diego. Throws it up on the lift and takes care of it while we chat away. Done in 5 minutes and see ya later!

Default Oil Filter

Speaking of oil changes, I do it myself. But, I was wondering, has anybody noticed how small the filter is? Does anyone know if a larger filter will work? (same size and flow) There is room for a larger filter, the thing in there looks like it's for a lawnmower. My motorcycle filter is larger for gosh sakes.

Yeah, I noticed. When I went to the store to pick it up I had to double check the part # to make sure it was right.

What Nissan part # are you using for the oil filter......my car originally had #15208-65f01....when I did my change just now the dealer gave me a part #15208-65f00.....any difference between the two? thanks for any replies, Mark.

I agree...they have a record of your service, and you build a relationship with the service department.

I don't trust anyone either, and could do it myself, but for $23 at the dealer, to me, it's not worth not taking it there.

I can't remember what part # was originally on there and I didn't replace the original with a Nissan filter.
