Default Tighten my drive belt too much =(

How you all doing, I replaced my drive belt about a month ago, but everytime during the morning when I start my car cold, the engine will make a really loud squeeking sound, so I decided to tighten my drive belt more tighter on monday, and after I put about 200 miles on the car this past couple days, I start hearing a whinning sound when the engine rev above 2000 rpm. I think I tighten the belt alittle too much, so I loosen the belt abit, but it's still making the whinning sound now. Did I break anything, is my engine alright??

How many miles have you put on the belt? You are suppose to torque the tensioner bolts to nissan's recommended spec. It will have a whiney sound until the belt has time to stretch a bit and it will be normal again after about 150 miles.

I already put about 8-9k miles on the belt, but I retighten the belt on monday and drove it for 200miles, but the whinning sound is getting louder, and I'm afraid I'll break something, so I loosen the belt just about an hour ago, and I put about 20 miles

that whining sound might be coming from the power steering pump. Did you replace the belts yourself?

I had a similar problem awhile back. First when i changed my drive belts i changed them with aftermarket knock-offs. I could not get rid of the whine and initial start up squeal. After switching back over to the Nissan OEM set up, everything was good to go. Did you replace your belts with generics or OEM?

There are no torque specs on a belt tension bolt. Tighten it to where there is no play in the belt when you tug on it with one finger. Like others have said, replace it with the OEM belt. After you install it and it has no play, drive it a couple more days, then re-tighten it again until it has no play...
