I stored my 2005 last year for the winter here, and the battery died in about 4 months of non use. This year I will start it up and run it for about 15 minutes about every 4 weeks or so. Coincidence???

Typically, a battery should last about 3 years. Apparently, the Z has a pretty heafty electric load as it's not uncommon for people here to report a dead battery after leaving it sit for a couple weeks. You would probably be better off either disconnecting it or get a trickle-charger that keeps it fully charged when stored.

The OEM batterys tend to go bad in 3 years to the day, and unlike other batterys and cars Iv had, when its gone its gone. There is no margin for error

Make sure the water level is good on the OEM battery. I did add distilled water once.

My battery just died.....got a red top......with damn reverse terminals.

After reading some of the posts on here, I'm getting a little nervous about the Optimas. Seems like a lot of people have problems with them. Any other recommendations? The Z is my daily driver.

I don't really want the Braille as I dont really care about weight. I just want a LONG lasting reliable battery that does well in the head (115+ degrees in the summer)
