Missing Motor Mount & 3rd Gear Grind Related?
Recently, 3rd gear began to grind. My car is out of warranty...how long should it take the dealer to replace the tranny? How much is a new tranny?
Here's the bigger question, before I started having the problem I began to hear a major squeak when driving my car and turing right. Upon further investigation there was a missing bolt on one of my motor mounts (probably from previous maintenance). The squeak was the movement of the motor since most likely it was not properly secured.
Could this have caused or led to the problem that I am having with 3rd gear? What is the probability that the motor mount naturally disappeared...i.e. magically worked its way off the screw, deteriorated and broke off...

i got quoted 2000 dollars for the newest and best 009 tranny. Install should be around 600-800 from the dealer. I would just do it myself though. That's too much.
I had my tranny replaced under warranty this summer for the same reason. Third gear would grind when shifting into it, but it would stay in gear once you got it in gear. It was $2200 for the new tranny and it also includes the oem clutch. That included labor aswell.
Ok, so the dealership performed some major work within the last year which included and they may have "forogotten" to put a bolt back on the motor mount...which caused a major squeak and movement/vibration of the engine. Could this be related to my problem.
Lastly, does anyone know whether Nissan is working on a "recall" for this situation. Sounds like a lot of transmissions are being replaced under or at 60K. My car is at 70K.

The dealership quoted me 3200 to replace the transmission...Labor and parts. Does anyone know where I can get a new tranny for less than 2100. How about a good transmission shop to install it in NC?
