i didnt find anything wrong with any sensors, i did do a tune when i had my car and it more or less eliminated the problem which is weird because i only added a small changes to the maps.

I'm wondering if this is what I need to do. I had JWT/Ultimate Racing HFC's/Nismo exhaust tuned on UpRev. I replaced the cats last year (code said they went bad) and it passed inspection and ran fine for awhile after that. However, now I have this code p1283 and it won't go away. I was wondering if a simple tune would help fix this. I even tried going from my UpRev tune to the stock ECU and no dice.

If you do have a bad sensor and it is replaced and the code keeps coming back, especially intermittently, follow itb04-059
the engine self-learning has to be cleared, this does not mean to clear codes.

Just threw this code and looking for some insight. I have an Air/Fuel Gauge and it is reading low 13s. The 1283 code is for the engine running lean, but the gauge is reading rich. Is this just the ECU over-compensating? Any help would be appreciated.
Car: 2004 350z, Popcharger, Stock Cats, S-Tune exhaust.

Anyone have advice on what to change out first? Injector, Sensor itself, O2 Sensor? Can of gas and a lighter?

Bump, I too have this code.. am scared to drop $150 to replace the sensor when something else could be tripping it. I do have bad exhaust with holes.. could this be the issue?

Having the same code.
Mods are:
Art pipes
Motordyne spacer
Hks cat back
18 gallons of tank lasts for 200 miles max
P1283 on
Before the art pipes I have 2 of the codes for the o2 sensors coming up once in 5-6 months (don't remember exactly the numbers). I was clearing it and it lasted me for another 5-6 months. I installed the pipes and both of the codes showed up right away, the car started to eat fuel like crazy, averaged 13mpg. I figured changing the o2 sensors would help and it did. Not for long.
No check engine light at first, 1-2 weeks later - p1283 came up, even worse gas mileage.
Any ideas?

Same code here, too lean.
Car hasn't changed in over two years.
However, this all started after the rear o2 sensors were plugged back in and the tune changed to see them. Ran fine. Reason for doing that passed, left sensors plugged in and flashed to the tune that blocks them out.
Cleared the code, will see if it comes back again.

So how do you clear the "self-lerning" without going to Nissan? I don't think that this is an option with Osiris/Cypher (I have the non-tuner).
Perhap clear the code with Osiris, then disco battery?

Digging this #$$#%% out of the grave.
Got the code 2 months after I installed the Z1 Test pipes on the 05Z.
Car works perfects on idle, WOT, traffic etc. No missfires. Loss of power etc.
I clear it and comes back around 50 miles ( using OBD2), I clear it by disconnecting the battery, and it comes back in about 120 miles.
I have not tested the 02 sensors to see if they are working but that is my next step.
Engine Mods:
Z1 Test Pipes
Agency Single
ISR Y
Momentum Perf Longtube Intake
5/16ths Spacer
Baff oil catch can.
Stock Nissan Tune.
Is this code more of an annoyance than a threat to the livelihood of the motor?
