Default Windshield washer inoperative

The drivers side windshield washer is inoperative. Before I begin removing plastic panels under the hood and starttroubleshooting, maybe you guys could help with a few simple questions:

The 350Z has one washer pump connected to the reservoir?
Coming off the pump should I be looking for two hoses? One for the drivers wiper and one for the passengers wiper?

I checked the service manual, and believe that I have a general understanding of the system:

a. Single pump motor with dual outlet: One for front windshield. One for rear.
b. Front pump has a single outlet later separated by a splitter: one for passenger wiper. One for drivers wiper.
c. The passenger washer is operational. Obviously the problem is after the splitter on the drivers side.

Turn your washers on (front). Look to see if any fluid is leaking out by the cowl panel. If not then take a safety pin and try putting it in the nozzle openings (possibly clogged).

Thanks. I’ll give it a try when the temperature is above 40 degrees. Its very uncomfortable outside.

I didn't even look where you were from. Did it stop working once it got cold (below freezing)? I'm originally from the midwest and we also had a lot of washer lines freezing. Just another thing to look at.

Now that I think about it, it was freezing the night before last. I will try the washers again today.

I'm in the same boat as you dave. This is my first winter with the Z and this morning was by far the coldest morning of the season. I couldn't get any washer fluid to come out, even after the car was warm and the snow/ice was removed from the outlets. I've never had this problem with previous cars. Do the Z's lines just freeze worse than other cars?

Also, I use the same "non-freezable" liquid I've been using for years.

To my knowledge, there are two pumps...one for the front and one for the rear. I have both of them on my desk as I type this. The lines going up to the frt. wipers can be unplugged and blown thru at the base of each arm. One wiper has a spray on both sides, the other on one side. They can be plugged with your fingers to chk for leaks.

Next would be to open the panels and do the same. After that, drop the wheel well and repeat.

Unfortunatlely, although the connections are the same on both pumps, you cant reverse plugs because intersect alignments are different. Each pump has ONE discharge....splits are farther down the line.

By rights, each pump could be energized from an outside source so as to bypass OEM switchs. Each has two Male terminals---1) GROUND 2) 12VDC

Needless to say, yours may be froze or just plugged at the nozzles

I have a similar problem. I managed to damage the little white connector piece that goes from the hose to the clear tubing. I found a picture of it off of the optima batter install thread.

https://my350z.com/forum/attachments...p-imgp2339.jpg

Before I cut anything off or go to the store to buy new tubing, is there anything I need to know? The piece itself has a spring in it so I'm not sure what my options are. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Im not really suprised the noob bumped this thread after so long, BUT, I am glad they did because I just cant BELIEVE that davidv actually had a question at one time. I would NEVER put any money down that he didnt actually have an answer to some sort of problem.

I will let him save face thought, and believe that he only posted to help save some other poor soul who didnt know any better about that issue
