Default Question for the mechanics

i got an 06 w/ 16k miles on it

my volt meter reads about 15.5v when i start it and it would drop down to just above 14.

i'm getting it checked out friday but wanted to find out if it was really really bad for the car?

Mine will increase and decrease a little bit upon turning the car on.
However, right above 14 is where it should be normally.

Is it consistantly doing this just when start up or is it jumping around during driving? ( i know you stated upon start up above). i believe it's fine.

but i'm not a mechanic either.

14/14.5v is the normal charging rate for a 12v system

yup, normal. I had a farad cap. with a monitor top for years. 14-14.5-ish seems to be typical of most alternators on a 12v system.

**disclaimer/edit: I am not a mechanic

Just a hint for future reference: put a subject in the subject line. Something like Upper plenum leaking not I got a question. Hell everyone has a question. Thanks.
