Window not dropping much anymore?

Window not dropping much anymore?
Since the search is broke, I need to see who else has this problem? I just noticed that my driver's window barely drops at all now when I open the door. The passenger side still drops the normal amount, but not the driver side. If I push it, it goes down the rest of the way.
What's up, and how do I fix it?

well, u guys should get it fixed.....its NOT normal because mine did that for a little while and now its stuck!! yup, my driver's side window is freakin stuck and wont go down.
i gotta bring it in to the dealer this weekend or next, and might as well get my window grease taken care of too, since i'm sure the door panel will be off.

My service guy (Nissan) could not fix the problem.
He says that it is dragging on the inside edge of the felt on the top edge of the door.
He said there haven't been enough reported cases "yet" to warrant a TSB on this so he is not sure what to do.
He did want me to ask you guys if you had window tint on your windows?
I told him he wasn't going to blame this on tints since the passenger side is not sticking.
He did say that they would fix it when and if they could.
In comparing the two windows I noticed that if you stand at the end of the door (with it open) and look down the top edge (with the window down) along the outside edge of the black piece that guides the window there is a slight bend to this piece about 3/4th's of the way down the line. in other words this piece is not in a straight line like the passenger side.
So I need some answers:
1. Do you have tint on your windows?
2. Is ONLY the drivers side doing this or ar both of your windows doing it?
3. Is the black piece on top of the door in a perfectly straight line?

My car's windows (both) have exhibited this now, although the passenger side is worse. They both still open and close ok, but the passenger side barely goes down at all now. I can push it down very gently to where it should be, as though the window simply wasn't catching on the guide.
To answer your 3 questions:
1. I have NEVER had tint on any of the windows.
2. BOTH windows do this, although to varying degrees.
3. I believe the molding is straight, but I'll have to check again. Can you elaborate on what you mean?

After reading this thread, I took a closer look at mine, and lo and behold, my driver side window isn't dropping as much as the passenger side anymore. Once I open the driver side door, the window drops about 1/4 an inch; I can then push down on it another 1/2 inch or so. The passenger side window drops 3/4 inch as it always did.
I am taking the car to the dealer to fix a rattle in the rear view mirror in a week or so, so I'll mention this (as well as the window grease problem), and let y'all know what happened.
Later,
Bode

I have the same problem... just on the drivers side. I asked them to fix it when I had the grease problem fixed but they didn't do a damn thing. I drove off without saying anything because it was such a pain to get them to fix the grease problem and order the right parts. I had to give them the part numbers then they only order 1 instead of two kits. It ended up taking them 2 months to order the two kits.
The techs seem to do good work but I think the problem is with the guy at the counter who is clueless...just poor customer service.
I guess I'll just have to wait until a TSB comes out for this so I can take it in with me, that's what I had to do for the grease problem.

I also had the problem and brought it to the dealer ... reply was not enough people have complained yet... my friends driver window stopped working this weekend... major bummer... no tint things are straight....

My window does exactly the same thing.
The driver side.
No tint
Molding strip is straight as can be.
My car is month old. Service on Wed the 2nd for window grease, slight pull to right, tire pressure sensors not working (changing wheels this week, don't want to be blamed for this), and now I will ask about the drivers side window.
I can hear it already, we'll look into it.
No one will ever do a freaking thing and they'll tell me they couldn't find anything wrong.
They'll make me feel like I'm annoying them.
(My salesman is awesome, he even scheduled my appointment, etc.)
Haven't been there yet, but 90% or service departments are the same. I'll post Wednesday night and let you know what happened.

All,
Took the car to the dealer yesterday (Falore Nissan, Sunnyvale, CA). The dealer immediately acknowledged the window drop problem, called the Nissan tech hotline, and was told that the fix is to "reset the window memory position." They did just that; now the window drops ~10mm (~1/3") which I'm told is within specs. Warranty job--no charge.
It sounds to me like a design flaw causes the window to "stick" and not drop as far as it should over time, and this is only a short-term fix. Nevertheless, I am happy to say my window isn't in danger of getting stuck in the doorframe anymore, at least not for a few months (hopefully).
Hope this helps those of you whose dealer refused to fix your window.
Incidentally, the previous dealer I used refused to acknowledge my rearview mirror rattle problem ("couldn't hear anything..."); this dealer not only acknowledged it, they ordered a brand new mirror and replaced it (under warranty--no charge).

Damn I never noticed my window not going down as much. Both the driver and passenger side windows have the problem. The passenger window is barely clearing the edge of the car when the door is opened, both my windows are tinted also. Bode how long did it take them to do their fix? I will also probably go to the Sunnyvale Nissan since they already know about the issue. Thanks in advance.

I don't know how long it took exactly, because I left the car there all day. I had 4 issues: the window drop, the rearview mirror rattle, brake service, and check the underbody for damage after skidding off the track last week...
It sounds like the fix for the window drop just involves resetting some electronic control, so it shouldn't take more than 10 minutes IMHO.
Good luck,
Bode

Uggggh.....why are most dealer service center's incompetent? I hate to rag on Smithtown Nissan, but they dropped the ball today. I took my car in for its first oil service and wanted them to address the window problem as well. So, I explain *exactly* what's wrong with the windows before I leave. I get a call about three hours later informing me that my car is ready. I asked if they fixed the windows and the guy says there wasn't a problem with them. I then explained to him *again* the exact problem I'm having and he tells me the windows have been fixed and are working fine. Now, I know damn good and well the windows haven't been fixed simply by the way he's telling me. Unfortunately I didn't have all day to waste at the dealer and sure enough, when I got in the car, the windows are still not fixed. The service tech apparently doesn't know how much these windows are supposed to drop or else he'd have known there was a problem immediately. The window motor still activates when you open the door, but instead of the window dropping a half inch like it's supposed to, it either doesn't drop at all, or it's minimal. So, instead of hassling with the service department, I'll just wait until there's a TSB put out for the fix.
What a pain in the ***.
