man-o-man ! first nice day that i've been off from work.....all i wanted to do wuZ drive the Z w/windows down....and NOPE,
not happening . driver side window moved like it had molasses in it all winter, finally went down ,and through several attempts over a 45 minute period to get it back up,it went back up 1/2 way .from reading the posts i guess it'll be at the dealership tomorrow morning and who knows from there. my car is an 03 performance w/14k on it. is it a year specific issue or are there 04 & 05 with the same issue too?

Ive had my run at this problem too.
1. New car.... only problem was grease TSB.
-Grease TSB done
2. 40k miles. Driver Side window takes a crap. Same problems everyone else has mentioned. First it would go down really slowly, second it wouldnt go all the way up without pulling it.
- Outside of warranty... $528 for new motor and service.
3. ~40k miles. Neither window drops. Even after new motor, my window still doesnt drop. And now, my passenger window is going down and up really.. really slowly.
I typically push down my window that extra half inch when I get out of the car. I dont think Im gonna go through the hassle of a quick fix until there is a TSB out.

I had my drivers side window regulator replaced on Feb 4, 05(this is the third time I came in with a window problem). Window was working after new regulator was installed. However, a few weeks ago, my drivers side window was not comming down again like everyone else had mentioned. So today, I went to the dealer to have it adjusted. 6 hours later they call me and say its ready. Come to find out, my window is not fixed, they wanted to keep my money. I fought for a refund which I got. Check in guy said it was adjusted by their top tech. Aha, sure! If that's their top tech, then want kinda crap work are the other techs doing. After two hours of waiting for manager and finnaly getting my refund. I drive off . I get on the freeway and notice my driver mirror is out of focus. I reach to adjust my mirror and notice the button is pushed in and doesn't move. The plastics on the door are not put in properly. Oh man, I was ticked. I drive back to have them fix it and to clean off all the grease marks left on the door. What a day today was. I just found this windows board, and realize that nothing is being done about this problem. I'm starting to regret I purchased this car and the fact that I passed up the invitation by a nissan dealer to buy the car back. Are any of these problems happening with the G35 coupe?

My drivers side window stop working this evening after I stopped to fill up. Started my car pressed the window button and nothin, no down, no up nothing, passenger side works fine. My car was relativly problem free and now @ 16,000 miles, more rattles, gas cap will not open evrytime, I can see this car is starting to fall apart.
Is there a TSB for the window problem? Do I have to pay for this fix? I went to Nissan for the wheel alignment fix and because I replaced my Bridgestones with Michelins I had to pay $89 for the wheel alignment.
Thanks.

Here’s the issue guys... I used to work in the car business (Sales) for about 4 years. This kind of window issue used to happen to Toyotas and Hondas too... but I know of a few people who had it on their BMW 3 Series because they have a similar roll down-roll up window seal. The issue is that the dealership gets paid waaayyy less from Nissan to fix warranty issues and especially recalls or the like. The manufacturer will set a fixed dollar amount for what it will costs and that's all they get... period. The crappy thing is that usually the time the manufacturer figures it will take is far less than what it really takes... so the tech is scrambling to get it done because the techs are paid the same damn way... so if Mr. Tech knows he's got one of those damn window fixes under warranty and he knows he'll be getting paid for a half an hour and he also knows that the last 6 he did took him an hour and a half... well you get the picture. When I was selling cars I used to pay the techs under the table out of my pocket to compensate for this kind of thing with MY customers. But the chances of your original salesman giving a flying **** is zero! Most of the bigger dealerships totally know what's up... in fact when you drop your keys off at the service coordinator (the guy sitting on the stool in front of the computer) and he's clicking away and then printing out your "Service Ticket" all the info from Nissan is popping up on that little screen of his. All the service departments are patched into Nissan!!
So here's the deal. The service coordinators are paid commissions just like salesmen... and guess what... they get nothing, or very little, for warranty work. They get the biggest cut from "Customer Pay" which of course means the customer is paying out of their pocket. I'm sure that makes sense if you recall how they acted and treated you... they probably didn't spend a ton of time listening to your description and if you mention a service bulletin, they probably try to dismiss it. Many Service Coordinators don't know anything about turning wrenches... Some I've met wouldn't even be able to change their own oil! Now there are some who were great techs and may be very knowledgeable... and those are the guys you want to find and stick with!! Those are the guys that you have to wait on hold for a while because there's a bunch of folks waiting to only schedule through them... they also make double the money of the other coordinators because they have loyal customers who finally found a good coordinator.
So... Do this:
1. Find the highest volume Nissan Dealership in your area.
2. Find out the name of the "General Manager" of the entire dealership
3. Call up the parts department and ask for the parts manager... you tell him that you were referred by the General manager (using his name) to the best service coordinator but you lost the business card his name was written on. The parts manager if fully aware of who this coordinator is and with the general manager's name being thrown around hill rattle it off in a heartbeat.
4. You call up service and ask for this coordinator by name. You wait on hold and if a different coordinator tries to field your call you make sure they don't help you... they're trying to make their commissions too and in the world of commissions many will try to feed off of other's crumbs.
5. If you've already had your recall/warranty work done once and it's still crap then you tell this coordinator that you brought it in and now it's sooooo much worse! Ham it up... Because if they fix something under warranty and it's still not fixed, they have to eat it. Nissan doesn't give them another helping. Service departments know that if they half *** something that most customers will just live with it. As long as they think the service manager won't find out and Nissan won't get a call with their name on the complaint... they figure they're maximizing their profits.
6. If things are still crappy, talk to the Service Manager. Be angry... trust me the service manager has seen some of the most angry people on earth and you'll be surprised just how calm they stay... usually.
7. Still crappy? Call Nissan’s complaint number. What's the number? I don't know but I know that dealerships don't like to give it out. Call up the dealership, ask the receptionist for the number... she'll probably talk to the general sales manager first because she doesn't want to get into trouble... you'll get the number and you'll probably get another manager involved that wonders what's going on. For all they know you bought your car there and they know that if you don't like your service you won't buy another one...
8. Still not happy? Call and talk with the General Manager of the store and let him know that you've been talking with resolution specialists at Nissan USA... tell him that they said you needed to speak with him before they could process the claim. That will get his attention. The more documented complaints the dealership has, the less likely they'll be to qualify for the Nissan awards... and if they loose their president's award, or whatever Nissan calls it, then they could get a lot less inventory and many other perks that equates to less profits for the year and a smaller YTD for the General Manager who's probably making over $400k/yr if it's a big dealership. He'll talk with you and then schedule you to talk with the service manger, after he's talked with him, and in the end you'll get your way.
9. If things are still ****ty, you are at a really screwed up dealership and you need to move on. You can go to another dealership and start over. Don't mention that another dealership was working on the car. If they can see in their computer that you had this issue worked on, then tell them that the dealership refuses to work on the car and that the issue is now 100 times worse... they won't call the other dealership. Most likely they won't know anything until the next month when Nissan questions the warranty charge because the other dealership already processed that same claim... your new dealership will win out in the end and the previous dealership will get a charge back... which they would deserve.
Bottom line: Dealerships are franchises and not Nissan. The car business has a lot of kinky people working in it and you gotta find the 1/10th of 1% who are trustworthy... and stick with them. When it comes to cars and $$ the bigger your ***** the more you're gonna accomplish
Good luck...
