Effing Nissan and their effing window motors!!!
I know, I Know- there are already 1000 threads about the window motor issues with the Z. However, in my searching I did not find this particular piece of info that might help a lot of people- sorry if it's already there and I missed it.
Helpful tip: If you have the issue where you engage the auto-up feature, and the window goes all the way up and then comes halfway down, try the up button WITHOUT engaging the auto-up, it should stay up this way. It won't do the seal feature when you open and close the door, though. This really saved me considering that it's 25 degrees here and I really don't have the money to take it to the dealer right now.
I haven't even had my 03 Z for more than 3 months/2k miles and already both windows have malfunctioned. I LOVE my Z, but c'mon, Nissan really should step up to the plate on this one. It's obvious that it's a manufacturer defect, so unless I'm unaware that Nissan is voluntarily fixing these window motors, shouldn't we all be petitioning or creating a class action suit or something? Eff it- I'm just not going to roll down my windows anymore. Hope my A/C doesn't fail in the summer. Stupid Nissan window motors

go to auto zone and buy a window motor. they will take your old broken one. Then install it. After that you will have a working window and a lifetime warranty so when the other one breaks you can go get another free and pop it in. we realize that our window motors arent the greatest. \closed.\

And seriously, what does it take to get a national recall on these things? I'm sure we could figure out a possible health risk if that's needed.
And we shouldn't have to go to Autozone to buy a new motor.
I hope wherever the CEO of Nissan lives has the most precipitation and all of his free Nissan cars window motors fail on him. Yeah, he won't have to lift a finger to get them fixed, but i wish upon him the same inconvenience that all 90% of us have experienced. Jk (not really)
a lot of people found that just replacing or cleaning the relay, not an entire new motor, fixes it! Much cheaper! I just took it to dealership and bitched and they gave me a new motor free of charge. customer sat. issue i believe they wrote it up as!

that same thing happened to me. all i did was take it to the dealer and they reset the motor or something and it fixed it. They told me that it was a temp fix and that i would need a new motor for like $400. but that was like a year ago and my window still works fine. only cost $90 basically only for them to hook up that computor and reset it.

This only happens on the passenger side. Annoying as hell, as the window doesn't slide down a bit when opening, nor auto up (then rolls quarter down).
you may or may not have to remove the door panel, but once that is done, find the where the motor is on the black metal plate, once again there may or may not be a black circular sticker over it, remove the sticker to reveal a button on the back of the motor. then plug the window switch back in. and shut the door(panel still off, with you inside). now hold the reset button down while (not using the auto function) you roll the window from full up,to full down, and back to full up.
if that doesn't work try from full down, to full up, to full down.(I forgot which sequence it is.)

j/kYea tell me about these damn motors. I just had mine replaced under warrenty and they tried to charge me 14.86 saying the warrenty company wouldn't cover it hahaha. fuggin BS when you pay for these damn etended warrenties. Also the Nissan stealership was charging 350 dollars to install the motor... See where they get the name. When the first dealership charged 150....
