Good luck man, there are tons of threads with not much help. I wonder if the OP's method was a permanent fix. I've read from another poster on another forum that the clutch needs to be replaced... something which I truly doubt is necessary.

so greasing behind the clutch or spraying lube doesn't hurt the clutch in any bad way???
loosen stuff that doesn't need to be loosened?

I don't know, the op had mentioned something about greasing a part behind the rubber boot. The only thing is, the rubber booth seems to be attached to something... but even if it's not, it's really hard to see what would be sprayed behind it if I just went wild with the lube. I was worried I would mess something up just spraying everything in sight.

Seems to be coming from a dry joint which is visable if you remove the rubber boot on the side of the clutch housing. It is a pivot point for the Release Bearing. The operating piston pushes on this paddle, which pivots on a join, that articulated the bearing. Initially i myself sprayed lithium grease on this pivot, which seemed to help for a week and then , it must have burnt off and become dry again

Now, the mechanic buddy has regreased the join using some higher time grease with copper in it (a spray) and it is much better, but then i have only just picked it up so time will tell if it stays that way, but no doubt its that pivot point

Jamie
Just in case anyone is interested... I got back with Jamie and this fix worked for him. I'm going to try to get mine done soon.

I can't find grease with copper in it anywhere in the U.S. Does anyone know of any high temp grease that would probably work?

Thanks. I didn't get the stuff you recommended (it seems it's called Kopr Kote), but it lead me to another similar product which I did buy (Permatex Anti-Seize Lubricant). It also has copper in it too I believe. I'm not sure why I couldn't find this stuff before.

Anyway, I'll update the thread with the results once I've applied it.

I sure hope someone figures this out.. I have a 2003 350Z Enthusiast and it is doing the exact same squeeking. It has been doing it for about a year but has gotten worse. Sometimes, when I am slowly letting the clutch out, it actually makes a rocking/knocking/creaking noise but for the most part, its just the squeek. I have read many forum posts on this and there doesn't really seem to be any solid solution yet. I've heard some say check the sound level with the door open vs. the door closed and if its louder, its coming from your tranny and you have a bad clutch. Well, I don't buy that, #1 mine sounds the same either way, and the clutch performs perfectly, no slipping/missing. Just nuisance squeek. I sure don't want to take it to the dealer and give my right arm. It has got to be something simple that we can all do on our own.

Well live2themaxuk got back with me saying his fix worked permanently. It's simply a lubrication issue on the mentioned joint. I still haven't received the lubricant I bought online but it should be coming soon.

First weekend after I get it I'm going to try to do it. I'll update the thread with the results b/c I know how annoying it is. I feel like I'm driving a 1980 van sometimes when all the squeaking.

Awesome man! Any chance you can snap a few pictures of the process when you are doing it? So the rest of us have a mini tutorial to follow? You'd sure make a bunch of people happy.

Yeah I'll definitely take pics and such. Hopefully I'll get the lubricant this week so I can work on it this weekend.

sounds like it the fork. the slave cyl. pushes from the front of the car toward the back while the "forked" part pushes the release "throwout" bearing foward. In the middle of this fork there is a joint that has to be greased. A high temp grease will work just don't apply to much. The boot just pulls off. and you may be able to access it easier if you remove the slave cylinder. The knuckle is directly in the middle of the fork toward the rear of the car. If you remove the slave cylinder you may have to bleed it. If you do a clutch change make sure you regrease the joint. Hope this helps

Ok, I finally fixed it. It's amazing what it's like to have a squeak free clutch!

Ok, so using the Permatex Anti-Seize Lubricant (has to be the SPRAY) I bought off Amazon (http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...&condition=new), I lubricated the joint live2themaxuk had described. I was kind of disappointed at first b/c it definitely decreased the squeak A LOT, but it was still there a little bit. But I had to run an errand in the Z shortly after trying to fix it... and afterwards, the squeak was completely gone. I guess it needed a bit of time to work itself in. I don't feel it in the peddle at all either. It's great.

Here the location of the problem. Behind the rubber boot (which is boxed in red) is where the joint is.

Follow the long bar the goes through the rubber boot and you'll see the joint (approximate location circled in red). It's really hard to see it back there but it's about 4 or so inches back... it's behind that little bar/wire thing shown in the picture below.

Spray that joint with the lube a few times and pump the clutch a little to let it work in. If it was anything like mine, it might take a couple of hours for the squeak to fully go away.

This lubricant should last but live2themaxuk said his lithium grease burnt off after about a week. I'll update everyone if that happens, but I don't think it will with the Permatex grease.

Also don't spray around like crazy in there.... just spray the joint!

Good luck!

Yeah things are still perfect. That spot is about a fourth car length from the front of the car, and that main metal casing is in the center (with regards to the left and right sides of the entire car)... while the rubber thing in the picture is on the passenger side of the main casing.

Did you jack the car up and take off the front drivers side tire to get to this? Is that where you went in? Looking down on top the hood is extremely cramped for space! Can hardly see a thing down there. I still need to order the same grease you mentioned.
