Default Squeaky Clutch on pedal depress - sounds from under the car

Hey all

recently ive started to have some proper embarassing issues with my car. There is this very loud squeak/creak when the clutch pedal is depressed, which seems to be worse after its driven for abit. It does this stationary or moving, it doesnt matter. I can actually feel it through the pedal, though the noise is LOUD outside the car and sounds like its coming from under the bonnet low down. Havnt had a friend push it while i look for it, but i really need it sorting. . . . . It sounds almost like door creaking and happens more the the 'depress' that the release of the pedal.

Seems to have gotten progressivly worse over the 12 months ive had the car, but the clutch itself isnt slipping or anything

Looked on my350z for help but there is no clear fix and nothing definitive. Its definelty not the 'pedal' itself as ive lubed that up a treat, and its LOUD LOUD LOUD from outside the car

this sounded like the issue, but there is no word on what it was exactly, apart from 'dry joint' and dealer fixed it. . . . humm clues?

I sure hope this aint expensive . . . .

any ideas?

Jamie

I have the same problem and have been trying to get answers but got nothing so far... That link makes it sound REALLY bad. I started a thread about this too. seems to be common. Anyway I'll be taking a look under the car at the gear box this week and let you know what i find. Maybe i'll make a DIY and post it on the thread I had.

I had the exact same problem. Like someone else mentioned here, use white lithium grease (don't use stupid sprays) and cover all the hinges above the pedal. There's a spring too, cover that. Use a small paint brush to get good coverage.

I had sprayed everything down once and it took a day or two to get the lube the spread and work. It stopped squeeking for a week but came back.

I used white lithium grease, but it took awhile to spread into its little holes and do it's magic. I think I might have done this again a second time a week later because it didn't seem to do anything. It took maybe a week or two after, but it's never squeeked ever again.

Well, its defo comign from the clutch housing. Ive had the operating cylinder off, re-bled the clutch, even sprayed some lithium grease on a ball joint i can just about see in the clutch houseing after taking the rubber boot off. I still had squeaking. . . . ..Just been for a proper drive now as it was up and stands and i cant hear it now. . . .(WTF). Im sure it will be back. . .and ive just ordered an ACT clutch and fly for the shotgun approach . . .lol

Ill let everyone know

UPDATE

OK well i have isolated the noise.

Seems to be coming from a dry joint which is visable if you remove the rubber boot on the side of the clutch housing. It is a pivot point for the Release Bearing. The operating piston pushes on this paddle, which pivots on a join, that articulated the bearing. Initially i myself sprayed lithium grease on this pivot, which seemed to help for a week and then , it must have burnt off and become dry again

Now, the mechanic buddy has regreased the join using some higher time grease with copper in it (a spray) and it is much better, but then i have only just picked it up so time will tell if it stays that way, but no doubt its that pivot point

regards

Jamie

It seems to be coming from deep inside the casing. I couldn't reach wherever it was coming from.

I'm going to take it to the stealership the next chance I get. If I have to replace an entire clutch or transmission for a squeak I'm going to be pretty pissed.
