I have heard that the stock bumper is expensive do to lack of supply. Maybe now is a good time to go for something after market.

How bad was the car damaged? Do you have any pictures?

Default damn

If I hit my dear, it will be spousal abuse.

DEER ( P )
n. pl. deer
Any of various hoofed ruminant mammals of the family Cervidae, characteristically having deciduous antlers borne chiefly by the males. The deer family also includes the elk, moose, caribou, and reindeer.

I was thinking the same thing.

Yeah - it may be time to look into going with a body kit since the stock bumper will cost you anyway.

In any case... I know the difference between DEER and DEAR, but I don't know which one is which. JK.

Default Deer and Insurance

Before you go to far, look at your insurance card, and see what your Comprehensive Deductible is.

Most people carry less of a deductible on their Comp than on Collision, and Animal Collision is considered a Comprehensive Loss, under most of the US policies with which I am familiar.

Hey, it's worth a look.

Plus get the agreement for the cost of the new bumper cover with your ins then tell them you plan on going aftermarket. then get with the shop to order the kit bumper of your choice. The ins co wont mind at all, so long as they don't pay anymore for the bumper or the rental. The shop may just tell you to order the cover and get it to them, then they can apply the org bumper cost to your deductible if any.

Main thing is, talk to the shop and the claim rep. Get your agreements and put them in writing with the shop.

Then you'll be good to go.

Good Luck and sorry for your misfortune.

Be glad it was a deer, cause people laugh when you tell them a tree ran out ...

stock bumper is no more than 300$, aftermarket full replacement is probably no less than 600. I donno anything about short supply, I got my rear bumper the next day, and I paid what it costs, they dont over charge for parts...

A stock front bumper is a little less than $500. I don't know about the availability but mine arrived with little or no fuss. Here's the catch, it needs to be masked, primed, and painted. The grill and bottom lip/spoiler are unpainted to achieve the color break up. the paint shop at my dealer did a less than stellar job of masking the grill area off. The edges are not near as good as the stock paint. Also when they order the bumper ask them to order a new front emblem. They are glued on and don't come off easy. They transferred my old badge to the new bumper complete with screwdriver pry marks. You can also ask them not to drill the license plate holes.

lot's a luck,
Koryo

Since you have to paint the bumper, maybe you should remove the emblem like I did. The body shop charge an extra $75 but, I think it makes a big difference. Also not many people will go to the trouble to remove it from a stock bumper.
