Question Replace brake fluid.

I checked the schedule 2 maintenance, and I cannot find replacing the brake fluid. Can someone point out the correct miles? My car has 60,000 miles.

You are correct, even the Factory Service Manual fails to specify an interval for full replacement of the brake fluid. It tells you what kind, how much and how to do it but none of the maintenance schedules list brake fluid as an item to check, only brake pads and cables.

Personally, I do it annually plus a good bleed before each track day. I'm sure 50 to 60K miles would be sufficient under normal use.

Thanks. I assumed that since 60,000 miles was a major maintenance interval that I would surely find “replace brake fluid.” Never does Nissan mention replacing brake fluid, but since brakes are a major safety concern, I will do it now.

In theory it's a closed system so it shouldn't go bad short of you boiling it at the track

Brake fluid is hydroscopic, so it absorbs water even though it is a closed system. You should change th efluid every couple of years. BMW, Mercedes, Porsche all do this.

Anti corrosion additives in the fluid break down over time (faster than the system takes on water).... abs systems are also more sensitive to corrosion damage than traditional brake systems...

Once every two years is a good rule of thumb for the average motorist. YMMV

I have no idea why some automobile manufacturers neglect to mention brake fluid changes.
