Default Oil pressure sending unit failure?

Just curious if anyone has had one of these fail or stop working? When I start my car the needle goes straight up to 120+ there is no fluctuation it just goes straight up. Now I'm guessing the wires are touching somewhere or the sending unit has failed.

Are these easy to change?

I have a 2004.5 base.

Thanks for your time.

Glenn

Yes Glenn that appears to be your issue. I'm guessing a new sending unit is in order. There is a parts database on line (search 350Z parts)to find a new one and it's really not that expensive of a proposition.

I recently replaced the oil pressure relief valve. The oil pressure gage was pegged.

So your saying it may not be the pressure sensor but the actual gauge? What symptoms did it have and was it exactly as I stated?

When I turn the key to the on position it immediately goes to 120+ psi.

If someone has the time to explain: Where is the oil pressure sensor located?

Thanks again everyone and anyone for your time and thoughts.

if you remove the under tray and look on the pass. side of the motor on the front its right behind the gold support bracked thats attached to your alternator from the block. Its pretty easy to change no big deal just be careful when you reinstall so you dont crack your lower oil pan. Try unplugging it and see if that changes anything before you go replacing anything.

My oil pressure quickly went to 120 PSI and stayed there. The oil pressure was 120 PSI. The relief value would not open.

Do you by chance have a link to that part you replaced?

A couple of years ago, mine had the exact same symptom and it was the sensor. It was a breeze to change.
