Default Running Dexron III in Oil

Currently I'm going to Universal Technical Institute and I'm pretty far a long but I've talked to 2 teachers who used to be smog techs, they suggested running a half a quart of Dexron III in your oil for 30 mins. No load though just let it idle. My question would be to anyone who's heard this before. Would I be able to use Dexron VI? VI has more additives so I'm hesitant to put it in and ruin the car, I'm going to be doing my brakes right now, if anyone knows about this please reply.

What exactly does the ATF do inside the engine oil? I dont see what benefits that may have. I wouldnt do it. I've heard in the past people running a small amount of diesel in the crankcase to clean up internal engine parts of a sludgy motor but never any ATF.

Auto Trans Fluid is sometimes adventagious in high mileage poorly maintained motors to clear sludge restrictions from tappets, pumps, push rod tubes due to it's High Detergent content.

Same reason that if you don't change the fluid in your A/T for a 175,000 miles....don't. It will flush sludge and plug your Valve Body.

Don't add it to your Z oil.

that is the kind of thing we used to do during the 4 barrel days, along with adding water into the open butterfly to break up carbon deposits. Now, with new fangeld cars I wouldn't bother.

Actually, I still do the 50/50 mixture of Brake Fluid and Water poured down the Carb on old motors---It works

mk, well I didn't do it for the reason of uncertainty and the Z was due for an oil change yesterday so I said screw it. I went and got an Oil Flush fluid instead.

Thanks for the input

running good synthetic oil from day 1 would alleviate these problems.

TECHRON by Chevron is THE way to go! Safer, easier and, possibly, cheaper.
Pour a 2O-oz. bottle of TECHRON into your gas tank and FEEL the difference,
old buddy!!! 'Bout $1O.OO for a 2O-oz. bottle, and $7.OO for a 12-oz. one.
I go with the 2O-oz. one, obviously. Follow the instructions on the bottle.
Of course, I'm talking 'bout the combustion chamber, valves, spark plugs, etc.
Like some of the guys here have said, synth' oil is your best bet for your engine.

I prefer to use the Redline SI-1 Fuel System Cleaner. I like it because it doesnt corrode injector coils like many fuel injector cleaners do, the plus side is slightly better gas milage.
