Default baby fireball?

Posting this in the maintenance section because not too sure where it should go.

Story: I had just dropped my gf off at her friends house and was driving away. The distance from where I drove to before coming to a stop sign was maybe 100-150 feet. After I turned the corner I got a call from her saying that she saw a small fireball coming out of my exhaust.... So I went from a stop, to first and then second gear and was not driving fast until I reached the stop sign at about 25ish mph I'd guess.

My mods are: 5/16 plenum spacer, hks hi power true dual exhaust, pop charger, and intense resonated test pipes that could affect my cars performance.

Does anybody have any idea why that happened? What kind of tune can fix my prob?

I think what she was seeing was your Z's afterburners, they come standard.

blowing flame is not a problem depending on the temp you may have dumped a lil unburnt fuel into the exhaust and it ignited.....not a big deal at all......

hard to believe after all those air breathing mods your car is still running rich enough to shoot a flame out of the tailpipe. Fairly normal and can be corrected with a tune, but honestly **** aint running right unless its a little rich. You must have been getting on it and shifting fast.

+1. considering you have test pipes and not cats, this was probably just some unburned fuel. its not worth getting a standalone and then getting a tune, unless it becomes a persistent problem.

yeah i mean the reason i was saying is because I never know when that's happening. And I wasn't driving or shifting fast which was weird. But, granted I was on the phone and I prolly shifter at like 3600rpms bc my hands were full. Just thought I'd ask the forum since it was weird to me. And the car didn't feel any different--just like it always has

ok well I went down to my local exhaust shop yesterday to have them take off some exhaust parts to pass emissions. One of the guys there told me that since I have a 2o2 for my sensors and not a 1o2 (or something like that), that my car's ecu isn't sending the proper fuel mixture bc of the sensors going off from running test pipes. He told me I am running rich, loosing power, and should use a stand alone or reflash at least to correct the problem. I'm running cat back now but don't really notice the difference in power. Do you think he's right?
