service engine light on again, got it turned off by advance auto's(something about oil meter ..i forgot) but then service engine turned back on

about 1 thousand miles ago i switched from regular oil to synthetic and the oil pressure gauge takes a long time to get to normal pressure..sometimes it looks like its overpressure...the oil needle flickers sometimes too.. ...

Do you guys thinks it to much oil, there could be a possibility that i did not drained all of the oil out...i had another thread on this but could not find it.

 

change your oil and filter, but thoroughly. take the car out for a spin, let it cool for about 10 min and then begin the process. let the oil drain out of the car for 10+ minutes, or until it stops dripping. it sounds like there was some remaining non-syn oil left in the system, and i am making this initial judgement because of the gauge showing surges in the system.

i use mobil 1 5w-30 and it takes about 2-6 minutes for the oil pressure to reach the normal operating range. this of course depends on your location, what brand and weight oil you use.

you need to get the actual code and diagnosis if you want further assistance.

 

thanks for the input ..i am also thinking that there was still oil in the pan....i use mobil 5 30 ....thanks again i will try that

 

damm just now the vdc slip control popped up when i started the car and i barely could drive...then turned car off and on a few times and it went away. ..i went to buy some oil and filter and will be doing it soon...

could you go from synthetic back to regular oil? i heard that you couldn't
