hey everyone hope someone can help me, took my car to Nissan about a loud rattle sound i hear when driving the car hard, when in idle i can hear it sometimes and days when its completely normal, when i step on the clutch the sound goes away and when i let it go their goes that annoying rattle any suggestions? i think it might be the throw out bearing any suggestions?
I have ths rattle sound(at least i think its the same one).
It happens rarely for me at startup or idle(it has though). However, it happens most in third or fourth. It seems to happen most when i let off the gas slightly or when i let the clutch out and give it gas.
As annoyng as it is(because the car only has 3600 miles on it). The clutch engages/disengages fine. It shifts smoothly/perfectly with no added effort/force or anything. As stated, the noise isn't constant. it happens now and again.
so until i notice the car not shifting correctly, or some other problem that could be related- i'll chalk it up as just something "it does from time to time".

this is "normal" operation. i just had the entire trans and clutch assembly replaced and though the noise has subsided for the most part, it is still audible from time to time. i would not be too concerned about it unless it is adversely impacting on performance.

with me it has no effect on performance just on my hears, i hate that sound, o well what about the recall on slave cylinder my vechile qualifies should i take it to nissan even though theirs nothing wrong with that yet?
i had the rattle after I replaced my pads and I at first thought it was due to that metal shield behind the rotor rubbing because the rotor was bad. After removing I could see that it was my wheel bearing. Cost $224 in parts from the dealer because its 2 pieces.
Edit: To check it yourself take the caliper and pad off and see if there is any play when shaking the rotor. If so its probably something wrong.

i have the same noise on my 07 everytime i release the clutch it makes a rattle noise. when the car is on idle it is loud took it to the dealership they said it is known on all manual 350z he even took another off the lot to show me
mine used to do the same thing at idle when the clutch was released, so i replaced my throw out bearing and the noise went away. if you leave it go over time you might have trouble shifting while driving, and then you might damage your synchros.
Its definitely not the wheel bearing and it is normal on the Z. When at idle, especially at the drive thourgh where it echo on the walls - it can be embarassing when a drive thru person says" dam..nice car", but in the back of their mind, they're probably thinking..."what a piece of crap" when they hear that awful noise.
You have to find ways to get use to it. Here's what I do - Put it in gear and disengage slightly moving the car just few centimeters, then put back in nutral...... OR hold in clutch when someone's present....... OR turn on AC and let our loud *** fan drown it out
Z fan sounds like a dam hovercraft or something don't it? "is that your car making that noise" "yeah...I just installed a blower, it got some kick i tell yah" LOL

I just had my Throw Out Bearings replaced yesterday on my 06 and I still have that awful rattle. Nissan is saying it's normal, but my dealer thinks otherwise. I too find it quit embarrassing to go through a drive thru and my car looking good and sounding like junk.
Have same issue since new on a 08, now with 1300 miles. The rattle noise is always quietest when I first start the car up. The noise gets much louder after I've been driving awhile and gets even louder after I do any spirited driving.
I've searched for an answer to this for a long time. Some blame the throw out bearing, some say its the tranny input shaft rotating while in neutral, etc. Some claim this noise is "normal" but that doesn't explain why some cars are much louder than others.
I've read that replacing the tranny fluid with Redline MT-90 helps...anyone tried this?
