Default Fuel Pump Failure on an 03 350z...

...Anybody had the same failure?

The car wouldn't start. We tried jumpstarting the car, we tried the alarm/fob trick, etc.

The car has 38,XXX miles. According to the dealer, the fuel pump needs to be changed. We'll see.

Btw, this is my roommate's car.

I dont think its a common problem on the Z. Pumps in general, water, fuel, whatever, will burn up if starved. When I was growing up, my Dad always tole me to keep at least a 1/4 tank in my car at all times. I dont always stick to that, but the point being, you dont want the fuel so low that the pump could be starved of fuel. So if your friend has a habit of running the car with low fuel, that could have lead to it. One thing that is nice about the Z is that the fuel light comes on with a couple gallons left in the tank. Doesnt keep people from driving around with the light on though.

No. He always leaves 1/4 tank of gas before re-fueling.
