Replacing windscreen (D.C. metro area)
Last week I witnessed a high-speed encounter between a rock and my Z's windscreen. What was initially just a small, quarter-inch nick quickly grew into an ugly, ten-inch crack in the windscreen. Normally, this would be frustrating, but since it's right in my line of sight (and on a Z with less than 5k miles), it's downright infuriating.
Moreso given the fact that the dealer insists that they subcontract such repairs to a local automotive glass shop. Bad enough, but made worse by the fact that the guy showed up to the house last week only to deliver the bad news...
He couldn't perform the repair 'in the field'. Seems that no one in the D.C. metro area has yet performed a replacement of the windscreen on a 350Z, and he was unwilling to risk doing such a repair outside of the shop. I appreciated his candor, but I'd like to know if anyone has had to get their Z's windscreen replaced somewhere in N. VA or S. Maryland. I'd hate to be the guinea pig on this little adventure.
Thanks,
Scott

Windscreen, what's that?
Most Americans won't know what one is...
But back to your question at hand, I'm sure if you call around, you'll find plenty of places willing to do the work. Replacing windshields isn't that different car to car.
